LE Recruitment Held in Bahia Adventist College
by Stephen Apola | Publishing Ministries Associate Director, General Conference
About 800 students from the Bahia Adventist College in the northeastern part of Brazil signed up for the 2019 Student Literature Evangelist (LE) Program.
The recruitment took place from April 3-7. During the week, the students attended lectures that were organized by the Institute of Development of Student Colporteurs (Instituto de Desenvolvimento de Estudantes Colportores: IDEC) to promote the canvassing program. Publishing Ministries leaders in attendance included Tercio Marques and Adilson de Morais, director and associate director for the South American Division, as well as Stephen Apola, associate director for the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.

Union and conference Publishing Ministries directors from all over Brazil camped at the college to recruit students for their territories. They put up booths to attract, interact with, and recruit student LEs.
The Sabbath evening celebration was climaxed with a beautiful, deeply moving, and spiritual concert by guest artist Sergio Saas.
On Sunday evening, IDEC held a victory banquet for the more than 700 students who successfully participated in the canvassing program the previous summer. The celebration kicked off with a communion service led by the union, university, and Publishing Ministries leaders, and culminated with a great feast to honor and celebrate the students’ achievements.

Young People Distribute 5,000 Missionary Books
by Super Moesi | Publishing Ministries Director, Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division
Hundreds of young people in Mauritius who celebrated Global Youth Day (GYD) on March 16 distributed about 5,000 copies of the 2019 missionary book, Hope for Today’s Families, in French.
The Youth Ministries of the General Conference promotes the distribution of the missionary book as one of their core activities during GYD.
The book has already been a blessing to many people, including the translator who was hired to translate the book into French. He said: “If only I read this book before my divorce, my marriage would be saved!”
We pray that many people in Mauritius will be blessed through the reading of this book.

Youth Rush Japan Aims to Reach People for God
by Almir Marroni | Publishing Ministries Director, General Conference
and Stanley Ng | Publishing Ministries Director, Northern Asia-Pacific Division
In March I had the opportunity to visit a group of student literature evangelists (LEs) who are actively engaged in Youth Rush, Japan. I spent close to a week visiting and working in the field with the Youth Rush team.
On Sabbath, the team presented the entire Sabbath program at the Shizuoka Seventh-day Adventist Church, near the Pacific coast of Japan. It was a week full of blessings. In addition to selling books, the young men and women reached 10 people who are interested in Bible studies, which is a big accomplishment in the tough field of Japan.

A few weeks later, Stanley Ng, Publishing Ministries director of the Northern Asia-Pacific Division, also had the opportunity to visit a different group of Youth Rush student literature evangelists.
"This past week, I joined a group of Youth Rush student LEs in Japan," Ng said. "I listened to them share their testimonies of how God led them during the three-week long, door-to-door canvassing program. About 40 students in three locations joined the Youth Rush program this past winter vacation."
We praise God for the great work of these students in Youth Rush Japan.

Peru Holds its First Countrywide Colporcamp
by Almir Marroni | Publishing Ministries Director, General Conference
Colporcamp is an annual camporee-style event held in Peru to recruit and train youth for literature evangelism. Last month, more than 500 young people from the entire country of Peru attended Colporcamp. Most of these young people are recruits who intend to get a scholarship to study at the Peruvian Union University (the Adventist university in Lima, Peru).

Publishing Ministries leaders attended the event to support and to share inspiring messages with the student literature evangelists (LEs), including Adilson de Morais, Publishing Ministries director for the South American Division, and Almir Marroni, Publishing director for the General Conference.

The idea of hosting a Colporcamp first started in 2009, and since then this type of event has become part of the strategy to recruit new literature evangelists in Peru. We congratulate the Publishing leaders in Peru for this tremendous and creative program that appeals to youth and young adults.
