Summer is around the corner and for many of us that means a break from work to finally read all day, every day. In your hammock, by the pool, stretched out under a tree in the park, any place will do. Our staff thought back to their favorite holiday and summer reads and have personal recommendations for you. Check them out here and click on a title to see who loved what book.
More staff-chosen highlights, not specifically summer-related but still great reads, can be found here.

June is Pride Month across the world. The Hague celebrated from 6 through 9 June and for the rest of the month you can find books on the topic on ABC The Hague's wall right by the entrance and on our website here.
If you missed the festivities, no worries: Amsterdam's world famous Gay Pride Festival is from 27 July to 4 August.
Last month's bestsellers were crammed with new nonfiction titles: Upheaval, Invisible Women, White and two oldies-but-goldies, Moneyland and Utopia for Realists.
Will this coming month have more fiction? Stay tuned...

A massive thanks to Rush frontman Geddy Lee and his army of wonderful fans who came to Amsterdam last week! The line snaked through the whole store and we're thrilled so many of you were able to get Geddy Lee's Big Beautiful Book of Bass signed by the man himself.

Also many thanks to everyone who came to the special Open Mic in Amsterdam and the Silent Reading Hour in The Hague in honor of Dutch Bookstore Day on 25 May. It was a fun and festive day on many levels and it reminded us once again that we have the best customers in the world!

What We're Reading
"A fictionalized version of Hammad's grandfather's life in Nablus, Palestine, in the early 1900's [...] it's unusual in that the setting is seldom described and the characters are strong."
"A nice graphic novel for the 9-12 years age category, beautifully drawn and quite interesting as a story."
"I already find it hilariously recognizable. The main character has a dark sense of humor which I can relate to. Looking forward to the rest of the novel."
"Good book to read aloud to your kid because it has short, snappy chapters, and it's also very exciting."
