Hello everyone!

As we draw closer to the end of this strange strange year, it is time for the second Lynx UK Trust newsletter. Work behind the scenes continues to march along at pace, and we can’t wait until we’re in a position to share more with you. For now, here are some updates on what we’ve been working on, and some next steps. It is all very encouraging.

The big task - the license application itself

The work that goes into preparing a robust licence application is monumental. It involves people from all walks of life - conservationists, ecologists, lawyers, local landowners and many more. There is a huge amount of work that goes into it. It is no small feat.

The good news is that we are almost there. We are in the process of reviewing the documents and making sure that the t’s are firmly crossed and the i’s dotted. With a view to submit soon, we are in a good place and are thankful for all of the hard work that has been put in by so many people. And of course, thank you to all of you for the continued support, which really does make a massive difference.

Text to donate launch

In other big news - we are greatly pleased to announce that we have been accepted onto Donate’s Text to Donate scheme. This is a great way for us to raise funds, and we will be properly launching it in the New Year across our Facebook page. Text to Donate is a convenient way to donate small amounts of funds quickly to an organisation, and we are hopeful that it will bolster our war chest as we march forwards with our project. If you would like to support our work through this programme, the details are:

Petition signatures

The petition has now surpassed 12,000 signatures which is great. But we need that to continue to grow to reflect the public support which this project has. So please continue to share the link around to all of your family and friends! 

Lynx & Biodiversity

We recently launched a small series on our social media channels, entitled Lynx & Biodiversity. We realised that whilst we talk a lot about the damage being done to our forests  and the benefits of a lynx reintroduction in relation to deer numbers, it would be great to share some information on the impact of a lynx reintroduction on other species in the forest.

We all know that through their impact on the deer population, lynx presence benefits all of the species in the forest, but how else can lynx presence positively affect other forest dwellers?
