Dear Esteemed Subscriber,

I hope everyone has made it thru the winter relatively unscathed.  I hear that it's already pollen season back in SC, but we're expecting 8" of snow here in the Hudson Valley tonight.  It is a crazy time of year for sure.

Anyway, I'm very excited to be making a couple of announcements and predictions in tonight's newsletter, as well a stroll down memory lane --- so I'll get right to it:

CURRENT EVENTS

Al Margolis and I (Duo Denum) will be presenting the 6th episode of our Double Duo series at Green Kill Gallery.  This time our guests will be Bill Brovold (Rhys Chatham, Arthur Russell, Glenn Branca) and Peter Aaron (Chrome Cranks, Sand in the Face, Sluggo).  As always, the show will be seen by both live stream and live audience.  Either way it's $5.

Also, I just released my new solo album 'dispatch' on Bandcamp a few days ago.  It's about 32 minutes long --- four pieces that I wrote over the past 5 years, and decided it was now time to set them free.  They were all created using my home-made Max/MSP software, and two pieces incorporate granulated viola da gamba sounds.   I was lucky enough to have the tracks mastered by audio wizard Álvaro Domene.  Very pleased with the magic he accomplished.
The album is free to download, so please help yourself!  I just want some ears to hear it.

OLD NEWS

If you missed episode #5 of our Green Kill series (with Fred Lonberg-Holm & Ben Vida), you can find a link to the YouTube archive on my website: http://bigsphinx.com/video.html.  It was a hell of a show, and we even had two unexpected trumpets.
OK, one was a cornet.

PREDICTIONS FOR THE FUTURE

In the previous newsletter, I mentioned the album that I made with Walter Wright & Al Margolis, who refer to themselves collectively as ELKA BONG.  Since I was their guest on that album, they titled it TOMKA BONG.

Well I liked this album a whole lot, and listened to it many times while out in the car.  (I still do.)  I told Walter and Al how happy I was with the album, and that I found it to be somehow rather relaxing, like something you might listen to for weird yoga.

So, long story short, we're now finishing up the final details on the Elka Bong Weird Yoga East Coast Tour with Tom Law and Cilla Vee, from May 18 to May 28.  We'll be going south, and then turning around and coming back north, so we'll end up at home again.  Along the way, we'll be playing in Harrisburg, Charlottesville, Roanoke, Knoxville, Asheville, Columbia. Chapel Hill, and Richmond.  If you happen to be in one of those places at the same time we are, it'd be great to see you.
By the way: you may recall that Al & I had to postpone our 2/24 show with Chloë Roe and Jack Lynch, due to a family emergency.  That show will be rescheduled in late Spring / early Summer... we'll announce a new date soon!

=================

OK, that's all I got.
Thank you for reading what I wrote.

- Tom
