Dear <<First Name>>,
Greetings in the name of our Lord!
It has been some time since we’ve sent an update from Petra but it is on my heart to reach out more regularly with news and encouragements from our little fellowship.
The next few few weeks bring us the annual opportunity to take advantage of the open door to speak about Jesus Christ with friends and family. Of course I’m speaking about the Christmas season. (A friend mentioned recently where they are from they use the term Christian-Carrols instead of Christmas-Carrols!). I’m always excited for any opportunity to bless the Lord in this way!
This past Sunday, we handed out a set of daily readings for this first week of December, called Advent Readings. There are four sets of readings and we will hand out a new one each week leading up to Christmas.
The reading for today is from Genesis 49:8-12:
|8 Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee.
|9 Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up?
|10 The sceptre shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.
|11 Binding his foal unto the vine, and his ass's colt unto the choice vine; he washed his garments in wine, and his clothes in the blood of grapes:
|12 His eyes shall be red with wine, and his teeth white with milk.
The reference to Shiloh is with regards to the coming Messiah, Jesus Christ, the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Unto Him shall all people be gathered.
The world may may try to push him out, but one may as well try to change the movement of the earth. This is our Lord and He is worthy to be praised!
Hope to see you soon. If you are not available to come in person, please seek out the teaching posted online using the webpage link below.
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
