Meridian Christmas Party

** ONLY 10 DAYS TO GO **

We are all looking forward to seeing you on at the Christmas Party, remember to bring some small change for your raffle tickets.

Saturday 10th December 2022 @ 18:00 (6 PM Sharp)

The Robin Hood, Durley Street, Durley, Hampshire, SO32 2AA

It is a 6PM start as dinner will be served prompt at 6.30PM

Thanks to the enthusiasm, dedication and commitment of some hard-working volunteers and committee members, we can look back on an active 25th Anniversary year for the Association.

The year saw some excellent educational and training events and workshops, both inside, online and at the apiaries; the launch of the MBA newsletter with news; a greatly improved website with some excellent blogs, images, and sources of reference; a celebration of MBA's 25th year with a sun-soaked BBQ and a Christmas meal to come!; the collaborative voluntary effort in the West End Apiary clean-up; joint working with Meon Valley Beekeepers Association and much more work behind the scenes managing the association's membership and finances.

Planning the association's events and activities is very much dependent on the feedback received from members, so please do take the time to complete the member survey, which will be sent to you all via email in the coming weeks.

We look forward to seeing you at the Christmas Dinner.

Chris Parker (Chairperson)

Meridian AGM

All members will receive the documents via direct email and a link for attendance

If there is anything you would like the raise with the committee or for them to discuss. Please email

Have you thought about being on the committee and helping run the club. If it's something you think you might be interested in, please contact me for more details at

In order to plan for next year, the committee will be sending out an end of year survey for each member to complete. This will help plan future events, activities and use of club funds. Please make sure that when it arrives in your mailbox you complete it. The more responses the better we can plan.

Membership Fees

As we approach the new year, we are able to confirm that annual membership fees for 2023/2024 will remain the same as this year, and we will confirm any changes to the fees paid to BBKA, Hampshire Beekeepers and Bee insurance premiums as soon as we have them.

Membership renewal requests will be sent out to members in January, and we hope that all current members will continue to be part of the association.

Members Area & Calendar

Check out the members’ area on our website. There you will find our calendar of events. Each month we will add a number of free online talks from around the world, from your favourite beekeepers and your favourite organisations like BIBBA, BBKA & HBA.

(2500 More Signatures Needed For a response from the Government)

I am writing to ask all Associations and their members to support our new honey petition which calls on the Government to change the Honey labelling rules so consumers can easily recognise all countries of origin of the honey contained in a jar sold here in the UK.

Following our members' propositions and direction at the 2021 ADM, this is the second honey petition in our efforts to maintain pressure on the government to address this important issue. If you signed the first petition, please be sure to sign this one too.

The important underlying issue here is ‘Funny’ Honey - i.e honey that has not necessarily involved a honeybee collecting nectar, processing and storing in the hive. Supermarket own-label honey can be bought for as little as 69p a jar. Although supermarkets say every jar of honey is “100% pure” and can be traced back to the beekeeper, there is no requirement to identify the countries of origin of honey blended from more than one country. We want consumers to start looking at the labels when buying honey – does it clearly state the country of origin? If it seems cheap compared to the other honeys on the shelf, ask themselves why?

We kindly ask all members to share the petition link with family and friends and on social media to help us reach our goal of 100,000 signatures which means the Government must consider the issue for debate in Parliament. The support of the general public and not just the beekeeping community is essential to achieve this result so please share as widely as possible. Associations and individuals that use social media can also ‘share’ the BBKA social media pages below to create awareness and to share the link.

Introducing the British Beekeeping Show

Following the success of BeeTradex, we have made the decision to re-brand our established annual show. The British Beekeeping Show will be a step forward for BeeTradex, keeping the trade show feel with strong supplier backing and expanding into new pollination and beekeeping areas.

Over 2000 of you attended BeeTradex this year to browse new suppliers which is the biggest turn out we have ever had firmly establishing our show the biggest national beekeeping show. Thank you for attending free talks and lectures, meeting fellow beekeepers and make the first physical show since 2020 even better than we could have imagined!

Tickets for the British Beekeeping Show are available now at this years BeeTradex prices...

You can get 2 for 1 tickets using the code
