COVID and more

More self love

During this trying time of COVID, we want to make sure you're staying safe, well and informed.

Your care and support is our number one priority and while the current COVID environment can make things a little more challenging, we're here for you.

We're planning for circumstances beyond our control and want you to feel safe and heard. If you've not already had a call to discuss your support plan during an emergency, you should expect a call from us soon.

We also want to make sure you're taking care of you.

Your wellbeing and mental health is important to us. We all need to take care of ourselves during this time. Do take time for yourself, check in on your loved ones, and stay connected to those you care about.

While we know it seems a little impersonal, face masks are mandatory for all Avivo colleagues and contractors.

Please let your support workers follow the correct protocol to keep you and themselves safe. We all need to do what we can to minimise the spread of this virus.

We recommend that where possible, you also wear a mask as this will also help to protect you during supports. If you're exempt from wearing a mask, we ask that you carry a medical certificate when out in public to show your exemption when asked.
RATs and reporting

With the increase of COVID in the community, we understand that some customers and their families will unfortunately contract the virus.
We appreciate you letting us know if you or anyone in  your household has the virus.

Likewise, some of our support workers will also catch the virus. We are doing all we can to prevent the spread of COVID and if your support worker becomes unwell, we will endeavour to find suitable support for you. We thank you for your patience as we navigate these times of uncertainty.

With the high number of COVID cases in Western Australia, the WA Government now supports the use of Rapid Antigen Testing (RAT).  Avivo has provided RAT tests to colleagues to use in line with government guidelines. Anyone who tests positive using an at-home RAT  is required to report it.

Did you know, you can now get 15 free RATs from the WA government? They can be sent directly to your address at no cost to you.

If you have Home Care Package (HCP) or NDIS funding, you can be reimbursed for the costs of Personal Protective Equipment, including RAT tests. All you need to do is provide the receipt to your Service Coordinator for any purchases from the 1 March 2022.

Defend our NDIS

At Avivo we stand for social justice.

Over the past three years we’ve watched the NDIS drifting into a welfare model that’s being driven by a scarcity mindset. We’re seeing a fractured and complicated system that decides ‘reasonable and necessary’ by monetary cost, not human potential.

We work with everyday people, every day, and we see firsthand the impact this is having on their lives and their families. We are seeing some NDIS participants having their plans significantly cut, leaving them without the funding they need to live their life in a way that makes sense to them within their own home and community.

We’re imploring the Federal Government to remember their ‘WHY’.

To remember that a person’s wellbeing, happiness and human rights are not things to be monetised.

Ahead of the 2022 Federal Election, we’re working with other to defend the NDIS and signing the Open Letter to Parliament House – will you add your name, too?
