INVITATION - HOST A BISHOP!
Can you host a Sudanese Bishop?
In July next year the Archbishop of Canterbury will invite all the Anglican bishops in the world to a Lambeth Conference, to be held in Canterbury. Bishop Nicholas is inviting all bishops in the Sudan and South Sudan, with their wives, to enjoy our hospitality in the Diocese of Salisbury for a few days before this conference – to deepen our friendship and to learn from each other.
This will be a great time of sharing and celebration and we are looking for hosts across the diocese to provide hospitality to our guests. Final arrangements have yet to be decided, but it looks likely we will need hosts to offer accommodation to one (or more) bishop and wife, for up to five or six nights between 16th-22nd July 2020. This will entail bed and breakfast and probably some ferrying around.
We envisage that, in every deanery, several bishops will be staying who could share a programme of visits and activities during the day – so we’re also looking for people to contribute to daily programmes. Some separate activities for wives will be organised by the Mothers’ Union. On a date to be confirmed there will be a service and reception for our guests in the Cathedral, at which hosts are also welcome. Details arrangements are developing, so we will keep you in touch as plans unfold.
We would love your involvement: if you may be able to help, please contact Sheila Trist on: email@example.com
Please look at the Clarendon Team website for photos of recent events in Pitton. More photos required from other churches!
