Message from The Bridge:

We have the opportunity to welcome two young people from Germany, students aged 18-24, as part of a gap year programme in partnership with the German government. These students are Christians, connected into their own local churches and are keen to serve in Salisbury for the year (September 2019-July 2020- holidays aside.) Each of them would work 40 hours a week in our local primary and secondary schools, connecting with all that the teams are doing and being positive role-models to our children and young people.

The only issue is that it is ENTIRELY dependent on us finding a host family for each of them.  This could be a family, couple or individual who would be willing to open their home for the duration of that year. The host family would need to provide board and lodging and a safe place for them to rest, have fun and feel at home.

We’re delighted to say that we have our first applicant, a young lady who lives in Germany and attends church regularly. She has a passionate faith and loves drama and youth work. She is fluent in English and she has so much to offer! She would love to come to Salisbury and join us and support the work of the Bridge Youth Project, but we need to find somewhere for her first. I can speak from personal experience and say that I have worked alongside 2 German students in the past few years and they were amazing.

Please can I ask you to think about whether this could be you? Or perhaps you know someone who might be suitable/interested? Either way, if we are to offer Rebecca a place (and an additional applicant) then we need to have people who might be prepared to open their homes and extend hospitality. Please do not hesitate to ask Tara or myself any further questions. We would love to talk to you!
