March Retest SR/PNP Registration Process
As a reminder from the January 4 Update, the window for the March Retest Student Registration/Personal Needs Profile (SR/PNP) process is January 18–31. To assist schools in registering students, the Department will place a .CSV file in MCAS 2022 DropBoxes, in the DESE Security Portal, on January 18.
Please note that the .CSV file will include students who participated in the November retests, since results will not be available before the SR/PNP deadline.  In addition, the .CSV file will be pre-populated with accommodations data from the November retest for any students who participated in and used an accommodation during the November retest administration. Below are instructions for handling student registrations for computer-based testing (CBT) and paper-based testing (PBT) for students who took the November retests:
  • CBT: Schools should wait until the November retest results are available (February 4 or later) before placing students in PearsonAccess Next (PAN) Sessions, since any students who are placed in Sessions and do not participate must be removed from Sessions before the end of test administration. Regardless of whether students are placed in Sessions, all unused test registrations may remain in PAN; they will not be scored and will not generate Parent/Guardian Reports.
  • PBT: To minimize extra PBT orders, the Department’s testing contractor will remove registrations for students who pass the November retests for any students who are registered for paper-based testing for March. (Students who will need a paper-based edition for the March retest for scholarship purposes may be provided a paper-based test from the overage of materials that schools receive, or schools may contact the MCAS Service Center to place an additional order.)
