Grace and Peace to you Sisters and Brothers in Christ,

Happy Reformation! 501 years ago something incredible happened! A young priest-in-training nailed 95 things wrong with the church to the church doors. Instead of starting a discussion with the property committee and the head priest of the church, it started a fire that would burn through the church and society resulting in one of the greatest revolutions in our human history! The Reformation!

In many respects that Reformation is the reason I am a Lutheran Pastor. It is because our denomination started out with a desire to change the church, and because we are allowed to still try and change the church, that I am a Lutheran pastor.

Does our church still need reforming? YES! Are you committed to participating in the ongoing work of reforming our church to make it even more accessible to those who need it, to make it even more engaged in the community through service and witness, to lead your own family and friends in returning to the table of Christ because bringing people to the table of Christ is exactly what God is calling us to do?

If so, please come this Sunday for our very special Reformation Sunday and hear the Good News of Jesus Christ and how he is calling us to live and serve and witness. And please continue to participate in the ongoing Reformation by staying connected and active with our community in Christ, Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.

May the Fire of the Holy Spirit blow through the whole Church this Reformation Sunday!

Don’t forget to wear RED!

Pastor Tim
               First Reading:  Jeremiah 31:31-34
               Psalm:  46
              Second Reading:  Romans 3:19-28
              Gospel Reading:  John 8:31-36
A few weeks back we were getting ready to go to our Granddaughter’s soft ball tournament. It was cold with gusty winds above 40 miles per hour and then it started to snow really hard. Do you remember that Saturday at 1:00 PM?

We were dressing by layering our clothing in order to stay warm. I was fine through the 4th inning but then the temperature dropped and the gusty winds became even stronger, so we added a blanket. Was able to make it to the end of the game but I was cold!

It made me think about and appreciate what Bible Study was studying in Second Peter about the Dress Code of a Christian. We had also discussed Paul’s letter to the Ephesians where he says in chapter 6 verse 11:  “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil”.

I felt sorry for the girls and coaches but they had a heater blowing in the dugout. It is important that we heed Paul and Peter with their advice!
