P.O.P.News September 16, 2018 PRINCE OF PEACE LUTHERAN CHURCH
September 30th after church
to discuss our Vision and Mission Statement.
After church on Sunday September 30th we will gather for an hour to join in the conversation that our Church Council and I have already started. As you will discover, the conversation is far from over.
The first step is the need to define our Vision and Mission.
Our proposed Vision Statement is: To know Christ – To Live Christ – To Share and Proclaim Christ
Our proposed Mission Statement is: To Know Christ by the Grace of God through the power of the Holy Spirit at work in our worship, our prayer, the Gospel, and each other. To LiveChrist by loving and following the Lord through accepting and nurturing all people on our journey of faith. To Share and Proclaim Christ by inviting, welcoming, and encouraging all to share in the Peace of the Lord by proclaiming the Gospel, celebrating the Sacraments, and serving our community.
We will all be invited to answer 2 Big Questions about POP
What are the 3 most important things we are doing as a church? These are 3 areas of strength.
What are the 3 most important we wish we were doing (or doing better)? These could be an important ministry we want to see happen better, or one we need to start, or one that is no longer working.
We will take the top 3 strengths and the top 1 or 2 areas for growth and compile them into a list of priorities for our mission and ministry here at Prince of Peace. These will be our Areas of Focus.
The Top 4 Areas of Focus that we identified in our discussion on Council Retreat are: Welcoming, Outreach, Provide Good and Regular Worship services, and Messaging.
What would you add? Change? Do you agree? Pray on it and let’s talk about it when we come together on September 30th, and again on October 14th, as a community and make sure everyone has input into our Vision and Mission Statement and our Areas of Focus.
God bless you and I look forward to continuing our conversation! Pastor Tim
