Vandalism causes closure of Army Cadet hut

The Army cadet hut in Lower Park Road, Brightlingsea, was shut down this month after a series of acts of vandalism forced the move.

In recent years, the buildings have been subjected to repeated and varied acts of vandalism, ranging from a fire to graffiti and attempts at forced entry through the wood-cladded walls of the Cadets’ building. Read more...

New Year Resolutions campaign helps drive adult volunteer recruitment in key locations!

We worked with the Army Cadets to develop a digital advertising campaign that targets key locations in East Anglia, emphasising the benefits of joining as a volunteer instructor.

The campaign targeted people who are looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge at the start of the new year. Across YouTube, Facebook and Google, the adverts were shown over 77,000 times to our target audience in East Anglia, and achieved a 70% uplift in applications compared with the average number of applications in same month for the last 3 years.

Employers meet Yeoman Warder at Tower of London

East Anglia employers witness the Ceremony of the Keys

This month, our Employer Engagement team invited a group of East Anglia employers to the Tower of London to find out more about the Armed Forces Covenant. This is a special event for us, which we run only a few times per year on behalf of the Ministry of Defence.

Guest speakers at the event included Faye Hudson, a fraud investigator from Sky and Reservist from '3TPS' RAF Police based at RAF Honnington.

We still have spaces for our business breakfast networking event in Cambridge on 23rd March. The event is being held inside an Army Reserve Centre; employers that might want to show their support to Defence people are encouraged to take part. Read more...

Suffolk Lord Lieutenant Awards Evening

Suffolk Lord-Lieutenants awards evening

HM Lord-Lieutenant for Suffolk, Countess Euston, appointed her cadets from the Army Cadets, the Air Cadets and the Sea Cadets at a special event at Ipswich Army Reserve Centre last week.

You'll recognise Cadet Rudge, pictured above with the Lord-Lieutenant, from last month's newsletter! He received the Commandant's Suffolk Army Cadet Force Commendation from HM Lord Lieutenant Lady Euston, and was hailed a hero by the local press for applying the first aid skills he had acquired through his Army Cadet training.

This year's Lord Lieutenants Cadets are Cadet Cpl James Horton (Sea Cadet), Cadet Warrant Officer Hannah Roberts (Air Cadet) and Cadet Sgt Harry Pickess (Army Cadet) .

Association meeting dates and key events are listed on our events calendar. Our Annual General Meeting takes place on 21st March.
