Our Estates Team have just completed a £70k refurbishment of Chatteris Army Cadet Force hut in Cambridgeshire.

The 6 week project was delivered on time and within the budget. Jordan Bullman, the Chatteris detachment commander, said: “Thank you for putting life back into the building. Myself, staff and all the cadets are pleased with it.”

Our Estates department is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and management of the Army Reserves and Cadet buildings in East Anglia. This includes 14 Army Reserve Centres and over 150 Cadet sites.

Will New Year Resolutions campaign help drive adult volunteer recruitment in key locations?

We've worked with the Army Cadets to develop a digital advertising campaign that targets key locations in East Anglia, emphasising the benefits of joining as a volunteer instructor.

The campaign targets people who are looking for an exciting and rewarding challenge at the start of the new year. The adverts were seen 70,000 times during January.

Surprise at 42F (King’s Lynn) Squadron Air Cadets presentation evening.

Wg Cdr David Miller RAFVR (T), OC Norfolk & Suffolk Wing, surprised Flt Lt Pauline Petch by presenting her with the Cadet Forces Medal for twelve years' meritorious service, amidst applause from cadets and parents.

Commenting on her medal presentation Flt Lt Petch said: “Normally these awards are presented at gatherings of one’s peers such as Wing conferences or dining-in nights. To have mine presented at our own presentation evening in front of our own cadets and their parents has made it so very much more special for me.” Read more...

Employer breakfasts continue to be a popular way to find out about the Armed Forces Covenant.

Many employers attended Ministry of Defence breakfast networking events last year, all designed to promote the Armed Forces Covenant and provide support to employers where needed.

More events like this are planned over the coming months in East Anglia; employers that might want to show their support to Defence people are encouraged to take part. Read more...
Ellis hailed a hero by Haverhill Echo

Cadets' First Aid training draws attention of local press.

Ellis Rudge, age 12, from Haverhill, has been praised for helping his friend, who fell at a skate park this month. Ellis applied the first aid skills he had acquired through his Army Cadet training. Paramedics praised his quick response and the injured boy is making a good recovery.

First Aid training to the Cadets is mainly carried out by the Adult Volunteers, and it's a testament to their abilities that we often see stories like Ellis's story in the press about cadets demonstrating their skills and the strength of character to apply those skills to help others.

Association meeting dates and key events are listed on our events calendar.
