Welcome to Forget Me Not Advocacy Group

Together, we can bring domestic violence out of the shadows and Be The Change!

Spring has sprung and we have had a busy winter here at Forget Me Not.  For starters, on April 5th, Forget Me Not Advocacy Group celebrated its 1st birthday!  And what a year it has been.  Here are just a few of the highlights:

Love Doesn't Hurt
On February 11th we hosted our first annual teen dating violence awareness event.  It was an amazing evening, with skits by the Florida Children's Theater, music, survivor talks, art, and a silent auction.  In partnership with Women in Distress, Barry Brides Walk, and No More Tears, there was information on all areas of support for victims and survivors alike.  We are looking forward to next year's event, scheduled for February 10th.  We hope you will mark your calendars and join us.

The Brides Walk at Barry University followed the very next week.  Our founder and President, Amy Daumit, shared her story and spoke to the effects of domestic violence on our society.  In the afternoon, we provided a workshop for high school students in attendance on the realities of teen dating violence and how to recognize the red flags.

Ongoing Events
We have a number of ongoing events that happen monthly and quarterly.  For survivors of abuse, who would like to be with like minded individuals as they heal and work toward becoming survivors, we have a peer group that meets once a month.  You can also find us most months at the Fort Lauderdale Jazz Brunch, at Food In Motion's Second Fridays Food Truck Event, or riding our bikes through Victoria Park. For more information on upcoming events, you can visit our website or our Eventbrite Calendar.

On March 18th, founder Amy Daumit spoke at TEDxNSU on Becoming the Change that Ends Domestic Violence.  A large part of our mission is founded on the belief that educating people and speaking out about domestic violence (in all of its forms), drives abuse out of the shadows.  If you are interested in having Amy come speak at your place of business, worship, or organization, please contact her at

We are excited about what 2017 has to offer and we hope you will join us as we work to bring change to South Florida and beyond.  Here some of the events that we have coming up this year!
