As we are still in January we would like to wish you full-heartedly: Happy New Year 2023! May it be a wonderful and successful one!

We hope you already started well. We started with onboarding the new cohort that brought exciting new technologies to the program and our portfolio. Please read below for further details on their space connections.

Beginning of January we also held our traditional annual planning workshop, which always serves us to align our visions, make plans and set goals. Very useful indeed and we had fun with it as well :)

Other than that our cohort 9 consisting of CondenZero, NematX, Inergio, RigiTech, Lumiphase and XRnanotech moved over into our alumni department. Congratulations on successfully concluding their incubation period and looking forward to further follow their progress.

The next application deadline for becoming part of ESA BIC CH is coming up on February 28th. So if you want to join the incubator or know someone who might be interested - the time to apply is now!

Large-scale production of high-quality human tissue in microgravity in space for drug development, testing and regenerative medicine.

Leveraging the power of satellite data to optimize design and workflow for solar-powered photovoltaic projects.

Next generation energy storage based on supercapacitors from earth to space.

ESA BIC CH startup

Swistor

Next generation energy storage based on supercapacitors.

Swistor develops a novel technology of ultra fast charging carbon nanotube (CNT) supercapacitors that combine high energy storage with high-power delivery capability. This next-generation of environmentally friendly energy storage devices should replace current batteries and is Li and Co free, using green and abundant materials. Initially targeting IoT sensor nodes and portable electronic devices, the technology can also be scaled to higher power applications.

In contrast to batteries and most hybrid supercapacitors, Swistor's technology is fast charging (10 to 100x faster than average batteries), and offers an extended service life and a wide range of operating temperatures without security problems.

Start-up highlights

Correntics

signed and kicked off a paid pilot with a large power/energy company and launched a new product: the Correntics Climate API.

Lightly

converted two trial customers to full licenses and established Lightly 2.0.

MinWave

started collaboration with one partner for ceramic meta filters.

TerraRad Tech

received purchase orders from 7 golf courses who will be their pioneer customers for 2023.

Alumnus ClearSpace

finalized a EUR 26.7 Mio series A financing round led by OTB Ventures and Swisscom Ventures.

Alumnus CompPair

can count Ariane Group, Decathlon, Gunboat and Salomon to their customers/partners. Furthermore they have 20 more as work in progress, which are mainly from the sports sector but also an increasing number from the wind, aeronautics and space sector.

Alumnus Flybotix

raises CHF 5.5 Mio to expand the navigation capabilities of its patented drone tech.

Alumnus Klepsydra

has developed a new software product for GPU programming called Klepsydra GPU.

Alumnus Ligentec

is a truly international start-up. Their team consists of more than 18 nationalities; watch here to meet the team.
