The Mover

Of all his aliases, Mescalinum United might be his most famous, with "We Have Arrived" being widely considered the genesis of hardcore. The Mover is arguably his most underrated alias. Simon Reynolds referred to The Mover as "the forgotten man of techno." It's certainly the alias he's admitted to spending the least time promoting—until now.

Undetected Act From The Gloom Chamber excels when pick-me-up drum programming and crippling, visceral melodies combine with an inescapable funk groove, as they do on "Fire Cloud" and "Lost." Tracks like these hook you from the inside, and from there The Mover's mesmerism works like a slow-release painkiller. By the end you're left in a kind of fuzzy state, rave-numb to the annihilation of the world around you.' Full RA Review by Holly Dicker can be accessed here and don't miss her RA feature on The Mover

Dj Mag have also feature a podcast & interview where The Mover discusses his reasons for reviving the legendary moniker last year.

'Undetected Act from the Gloom Chamber,' which builds upon his rave legacy drops tomorrow on Boidae on vinyl and his own Planet Phuture label on digital. You can stream the booming breakbeats of Shadow Deception on Red Bull Radio's First Floor and the stunning electro masterpiece Stars Collapse on Traxx Magazine.

Reaktor Events have heralded The Mover's new live set from their Unpolished show, last March the 3rd as having stolen the show, you can stream the full live set here.

Mick Harris as Fret

L.I.E.S. label signs Mick Harris for an EP entitled Silent Neighbour, under his Fret alias which drops in April, following October's Over Depth LP on karlrecords, which was the first new Fret material in 22 years. (He also performed live under the alias at Berlin's Atonal festival in August and many more festivals and events since then.) The EP spans four tracks and was produced in Yardley Woods, an area of Birmingham, UK, in November last year. You can listen to a heavy no mercy track taken from the EP entitled List is Full here

For those of you who missed it be sure to check out Fret's immense AV show with Stormfield for Dance Affliction, Macao, Milan last December and hosted on URSSS. More info on Stormfield can be accessed here.

Also, Dazed & Confuzed London have made an excellent video of the Fret/Stormfield AV collab they hosted in London a few months back.

Makaton

Makaton's exhilarating liveset has seen him bolster the techno scene across the UK, Europe, the US and most recently Asia. Dommune in Japan hosted him live earlier this month and as usual, his live performance is not to be missed.

Suara is a label based in Barcelona run by Spanish DJ/producer Coyu since 2008, that has a reputation for great quality dance music. Recent releases have once again raised the standard for the label and support often comes from the likes of the biggest names on the scene. Now with up to over 300 releases under their belt, the label is earning respect from the whole scene. Recently #1 most charted label of 2013, 2014 & 2016 on Resident Advisor's list, Suara is going from strength to strength. Quite simply! It's tasteful music made for maximum enjoyment on the dancefloor by some of the most interesting artists of the scene. It's no surprise that Saura have included a killer track by Makaton entitled Fixation on their [SCOM031] VVAA - Dia Cero II compilation.

Swarm Intelligence

Swarm Intelligence's Against the Dying Light marks the first, full-length album on Voitax. With moments of seething tension, unrestrained fury and dejection, as well as glimmers of hope - this record may have its roots in industrial techno, but ultimately it defies classification.

The Wire have reviewed Swarm Intelligence's LP and have written: 'If Industrial Techno is a sewer – flowing under the infrastructure of club culture, always there, hardly changing – then this is a horrific eruption of from those subterranean depths, impossible to ignore or forget once exposed to it. The Irish producer has made some nicely aggro four-to-the - floor tracks for labels like Earwiggle in the past, but this really ramps things up – bringing in hints of NO U Turn and Vex’d, but more to the point adding discord and distortion so vicious that titles like “I Prey On Your Fear” and “I am Everything You Are Running From” start to feel less horror kitsch than genuine evil.'

You can stream an intense track from the LP entitled Dusk Falls which has just been premiered on The Brvtalist.

Swarm Intelligence is now available to play a new live set, inspired by his new LP. A noisey techno DJ podcast hosted on Lost in Ether can be enjoyed here. Also, Swarm Intelligence brings Motz podcast a dark narrative twisting into a murky underworld that keeps you enthralled every moment of the way.

This video for the album track “Pearl's Theme” which is premiered on The Wire was made by artist David Packe, who has also helped with the visuals for the duo's new colourful, immersive live set-up.
