ATHLETE WELLBEING & ENGAGEMENT ADVISOR POSITION

The WA Institute of Sport has a part time position for an Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Advisor to join the team for an initial contract period of two years.

The successful candidate will provide athletes with best practice career, education and athlete wellbeing services.

2020 CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN TO DENMARK

Surf Life Saving WA have announced the return to Ocean Beach in Denmark for the Country and Masters Championships following a hugely successful carnival with nearly 1,000 competitors at the beach earlier this year.

The event takes place on 29 February - 1 March 2020 and will draw more than 650 competitors for the two-day competition.

After several decades international badminton will make its return to Perth with the world sanctioned Future Series event to take place on 5 - 8 September 2019.

STATE SQUAD SET FOR GLORY CHALLENGE

Football West have announced their squad for the Men's Challenge Cup match against Perth Glory, providing an exciting opportunity for local club talent to challenge one of most powerful A-League clubs.

The match will kick off at 7pm on Wednesday 31 July at Frank Drago Reserve in Bayswater with free entry for spectators.

BULLDOGS BRING NRL ACTION BACK TO PERTH

The Canterbury Bulldogs NRL team are set to make Perth their temporary home, with a home game each year for the next three seasons to be played at HBF Park.

"This is wonderful news for sports fans in this state and strategically important to NRL WA in terms of its positive impact on grass roots game development", said NRL WA CEO John Sackson.

ONE YEAR TO TOKYO GAMES

The WA Government has announced direct funding for Olympic and Paralympic athletes for the first time, as the one-year countdown to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games begins.

The direct funding will go straight to selected WA athletes, rather than a state government contribution of a larger sum to the centralised Olympic Team Appeal.

PERTH HALF MARATHON

The WA Marathon Club will be conducting the Matrix Partners Perth Half Marathon on Sunday 4th August with proceeds supporting the Lions Save Sight Foundation.

The community event will also include a 5km distance, ideally suited to walkers or parents with young children or runners who want to participate in a shorter distance run.
