PHYSIOTHERAPIST NEEDED FOR STATE TEAM

Hockey WA are seeking a qualified physiotherapist to travel with the WA Under 21s Men's State Team to the 2019 Australian Under 21 National Championships. 

The team travels to Lismore in NSW on Monday 8 July and returns to Perth on Thursday 18 July.

BOARD AND SUB COMMITTEE VACANCIES

Diving WA are currently seeking an independent non-executive board member to fill a casual vacancy, plus two volunteer committee members.

The casual vacancy is to be filled until 30 November 2019 before the position is open to election.  Applications for the two volunteer committee positions close on Friday 21 June 2019.

WATER POLO WA STAYING SUNSMART

Water Polo WA has extended their partnership with Healthway for a further three years, with the sport set to continue the SunSmart message across several programs and competitions.

The SunSmart message is about increasing awareness and encouraging the community to display sun protective behaviour.

JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPS IN SIGHTS OF YOUNG ARCHER

High Wycombe bowman Jai Francis will step onto the world archery stage in August after winning a gold and bronze medal at the 2019 National Youth Archery Championships. 

After trying a number of sports, Jai was introduced to archery as a 12-year-old, and three years on is a world record holder for a 60m distance.  He'll head to Spain for the World Youth Archery Championships starting on 19 August.

SURF LIFE SAVING WA & WOODSIDE EXTEND PARTNERSHIP

Woodside Energy have extended their partnership with Surf Life Saving WA to include the popular childrens "Nippers" program.

SLWSA President Craig Smith-Gander said he was delighted with Woodside's decision to continue and increase its existing support for the organisation.

NPL BROADCAST DEAL LOCKED IN

Football West have confirmed a deal to live stream senior and Under 20 matches from the National Premier League WA competition. 

The deal will see 12 matches broadcast each weekend via the Football West Facebook and YouTube channels.

WA JUNIORS SELECTED FOR HIGHER HONOURS

As State Of Origin fever comes to Western Australia next week, two promising WA talents have been selected to represent in the Combined Affiliated States (CAS) Under 18s team.

Dylan Estreich and Kyran Namana-Tahere played starring roles in WA's second placing at the Under 18 CAS Championships in Darwin last week to earn selection in the representative team.

FUNDS ALLOCATED TO KAMBALDA POOL

The WA Government has made a $700,000 funding allocation to ensure the $3.4 million refurbishment of the Kambalda Aquatic Facility reaches completion. 

The funding will assist the Shire of Coolgardie to undertake upgrades to the 48-year-old facility.

NEW GUIDELINES TO PROMOTE INCLUSION

Sport and human rights leaders are encouraging all Australians to "stand for inclusivity", launching new guidelines that promote the inclusion of transgender and gender diverse people in sport. 

The Guidelines provide information on the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) and guidance on creating and promoting inclusive environments in sport.

LOCAL HOCKEY CLUB WINS COMMUNITY AWARD

The Perth Pythons Hockey Club was recognised at the Australian Pride in Sport Awards presented in Melbourne this week. 

The Pythons received the LGBTI Community Sport Award for their exceptional efforts in making sport more inclusive of LGBTI people.
