Netball in WA has two positions available - an executive officer for the West Coast Fever and an executive assistant to the CEO
of Netball WA.


The executive officer will provide strategic and operational management and leadership to ensure the delivery of the club’s core performance outcomes while the executive assistant will assist the CEO in the delivery of key strategic initiatives. 
 
WATER POLO WA SEEKS FOUR NEW BOARD MEMBERS
 

Water Polo WA is seeking highly qualified individuals with a passion for water polo to join its board at the AGM on September 16 when elections will be held for four of the eight positions.

Applications must be submitted using the prescribed form, signed by a current member club or association and can  be submitted to general manager Benjamin Haywood by email to generalmanager@waterpolowa.asn.au. Contact him on  0437 908 599 for all enquiries.

CALLING ON ASPIRING CRICKET UMPIRES

The WACA has opened its applications for the intake of umpires for the 2018-19 season and the good news is that you can be involved without being an expert in the game because the skills of officiating are taught as part of the induction process.

WACA umpires cover competitions across Western Australia and all applicants need to get started is a valid WA Working with Children card.

SMA TO HOLD TAPING COURSES
 

Sports Medicine Australia will run a three-part taping seminar series to give participants the opportunity to gain taping experience across a number of joints and techniques. 

Participants can register for a single session, or multiple courses.  SMA recommends all three for a more comprehensive educational experience.

Athletics WA has established a Competition Advisory Group as part of the organisation's commitment to provide events and services in accordance with the expectations of its members. 

 

The CAG consists of a range of representatives from different backgrounds to work together with AWA and provide recommendations for future programs, events and services across a number of areas.

COCKBURN CLAIMS MAJOR NATIONAL SPORT AND RECREATION AWARD

Cockburn City Council has taken off a major award at the National Sports Convention in Melbourne, an event recognised as Australasia’s largest community sport and recreation knowledge sharing event.

The Sport, Recreation and Play Innovation Award 2018 was won by Cockburn for the Cockburn Aquatic and Recreation Centre,  a 23,000m2, state-of-the-art, integrated aquatic, recreation, education and elite-athlete training facility for the community.

MUNDARING ARENA OPENS FOR BUSINESS

The $10m multi-purpose Mundaring Arena indoor sports facility catering for year-round play in basketball, netball, hockey, badminton, volleyball and soccer has officially been opened by the Minister for Sport and Recreation Mick Murray.

The State Government provided $3m towards the construction of the arena which includes a four-court international standard indoor stadium, function room and committee room, LED matrix score boards, referee room, first aid room and kiosk.

SPORTING FACELIFT FOR BROOME
 

Minister for Sport and Recreation Mick Murray has confirmed $3.3m of funding for the Shire of Broome, including the upgrade and expansion of the Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre's multipurpose outdoor courts.

The $1.94m allocation will weatherproof the courts, and improve seating and lighting while other projects recently funded through the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund, include $85,000 for the construction of a local pump track, $32,100 for lighting at the Broome Bowling Club, and $18,000 to upgrade storage facilities at the Broome Squash Club. This comes after a $1.25m investment into the recently completed Broome Recreation and Aquatic Centre refurbishment.

AIS INITIATES MENTAL HEALTH AUDIT

The AIS is undertaking a Mental Health Issue and Illness Audit, an anonymous online survey to assess the current mental health and wellbeing of Australia’s elite athletes.

It will also establish a National Mental Health Referral Network, providing high performance athletes with support for assessment and treatment for mental health issues. AIS Deputy Director for Athlete Wellbeing and Engagement Matti Clements said the mental health initiatives were the first steps in creating a national action plan for athlete wellbeing.
