November 20: Malcolm Zander

Don't miss this all-day workshop. It's FREE for current TWG members, lunch and refreshments are included, but advance registration is essential.

On Sunday, November 20, Malcolm Zander will demonstrate thin-wall turning from dry wood and techniques used in piercing.  John Buccioni says "Bottom line: this is a presentation well worth seeing."
To reserve your spot, contact John by email.
Malcolm Zander took up woodturning after retiring from a career as a professor of biochemistry with Algonquin College in Ottawa. His interest and ability grew quickly thanks to the inspiration he received from others. The thin-walled creations he produces have been exhibited in galleries and museums across North America. Malcolm is great teacher with a unique style. To learn more about Malcolm, watch this video produced by CTV Ottawa.

For more details about Malcolm's presentation, including class notes that you can print and bring to the workshop, go to the Announcements page on the TWG website.

For those TWG members who are also interested in a practical follow-up, Malcolm has agreed to do an all-day, hands-on session at Lee Valley in Vaughan on Tuesday, November 22, for a maximum of 6 people. This session has a separate fee. To register, go to Lee Valley's web page.
Reminder: Membership Dues
Dues are payable at the start of the meeting season. If you haven't yet paid your 2016-17 membership, you will lose your member benefits. That means, among other things, being unsubscribed from the mailing list and no longer receiving notices like this one. Also, if you're not a member, you won't be eligible to submit your work for the Holiday Showcase (see below). Go to the Membership Page for the fee and application form. Please pay, don't delay. Thank you - we'd hate to lose you.
Holiday Showcase
December 5 is fast approaching. That's when we'll hold our Holiday Showcase, the friendly annual woodturning competition that displays some of the great work our members produce. If you aren't yet prepared for this popular event, start turning!
