Welcome to a new woodturning season!

The 2016 - 2017 TWG meeting season is about to begin. Don't miss our first meeting on Monday, September 12.

At our first meeting of the new season, Lloyd Butler will be our seminar leader with a presentation titled "What's Wrong With My Bowl Gouge?"

Lloyd is the President of Golden Horseshoe Woodturners Guild. He is also a member of our Guild, and an active coach in our Hands-on program. Lloyd has the ability to clearly explain how things work in woodturning, and how to do them better. Don't miss what will certainly be a great learning opportunity.
Coming soon: Grey-Bruce Turnfest

All members of the 11 woodturning guilds from across Ontario are invited to attend the 2nd annual TurnFest Woodturning Exhibition, Symposium and Workshops that take placed in Port Elgin from September 16 to 18, 2016.

  • Saturday and Sunday: a Woodturning Symposium including a series of scheduled presentations, instant gallery, wood/tool show/sale, and ad-hoc ongoing mini-demonstrations.
  • Friday, Monday and Tuesday: all-day, hands-on workshops led by experienced, talented woodturners.
Enrollment for the Symposium and Workshops will be limited; pre-registration is required.  Snacks, lunch, and drinks are provided at no additional cost.

To participate in the Symposium, you must be a current member of an Ontario woodturning guild.

A few days ago, Sean Lippay, a consultant working with Nando's Restaurant chain, wrote to Sharon Turner about a possible commission to make custom cake stands and other products. Nando's is looking to buy the following items.
  1. Cake stand - 5 required immediately and 15-20 for the end of November. This item is a two-piece assembly.
  2. Straw holder - 5 required immediately and 15-20 for the end of November. This item is a single piece.
  3. Salt shaker - Between 250-400 pieces will be required next year. This item is a single piece.
Sean provided a product brochure that includes pictures of the items mentioned above. Click here to see the brochure. If anyone wants to take this on, or knows of someone who may be interested, please contact Sean for more details.
