Dear Students,

Happy Sunday!

This week at our Weekly Wednesday LiveQ&A,  we focused on AV Perception. (Check my new jobs section below about AV perception jobs at Waymo, Lyft and Luminar).

Our primary question revolved around data from cameras replacing rear and side-view mirrors, about connected cameras, data informing driving behavior, cost of mobility of this data to cloud or edge use cases, ownership, etc.

Here's the Tweet thread of our Weekly Wednesday Live, feel free to add a tweet.

Next Weekly Wednesday topic is "Humanizing Cars."

You can join our Weekly Wednesday LiveQ&A in two ways:

2.  Sep 20th I'll announce the curriculum of my new course online "AIX" course  that I am co-developing with Dr.Charles Ikem of Europe about AIXDesign in Autonomous Vehicles. This course will help designers and product managers who work with AI Engineers in Autonomous Vehicles and other AI driven products.  Course will run fully online for 6 weeks from mid-Oct with lifetime access to the archive after that.

Signup to know when registration opens for AIX course.  Starting Sep 20, I'll start sharing a free mini-course sample for all who have joined the stay-informed list. So tell your friends who are designers or product managers.

News Articles:

1.  This is the article we discussed in last Weekly Wednesday Live about connected cameras in cars (Read here).

2. 'Perceptive Automate', an NVidia Partner startup uses Perception data for markers to predict pedestrian behavior on the road. Do you agree that an AV should read your facial expression and decide your next move on the road?
We'll be talking about this as we discuss humanizing the car at our Weekly Wednesday Live Q&A (Click YouTube link on top of page or at next Wed date in curriculum)

3. "Data Bullying" is what I call this phenomenon where consumers use security cameras to track people and target people using a data service from a security camera company. Facial recognition with its biases and false positives can become a tool for people to discriminate and target others.

4. We have covered Mobility data and role of cities as we get ready for Autonomous Vehicles. My friend Bas Boorsma has joined as Managing Director of Cities Today Institute. He writes about how data is powering the movement of cities regaining control of the urban innovation agenda.

Bas Boorsma's book "A New Digital Deal" covers digitization strategy for cities and how to achieve social, environmental, economic value with digital-ready governance, ethics and digitization best practices. (details here)

I started our Weekly Wednesday LiveQ&A to share educational material about AV Business, AV data, b-models and smart mobility. In the past 3 months, we have built out a focused discussion about mobility jobs in Product Management, Business Development, Design, and more. I archive our Wednesday sessions on Livestreamed Lessons on DriverlessWorldSchool. Pass it onto friends interested in AV space as we have 20 hrs of weekly sessions as a monthly membership at $9/momth (cancel anytime too).

Upcoming Events: If you miss our Weekly Wednesday Live sessions, check the archives at Livestreamed Lessons.
