Dear Students,

Happy Sunday!

Is your new year resolution to pivot your career to focus on AI, AV or IoT? Well that is our focus for this weekly wed live!!!

Join me for our #WeeklyWedLive  (YouTube link in here) 9am pt/18 cest/1pm Brazil  and I'll answer questions and share my research on how you can pivot to AI, IoT and AV space.

Let me know if your No.1 reason to delay switching to exciting job roles in your company or start your new business in AI or IoT space is:
  1. I don't have time, I am too busy at work
  2. I don't have enough technical knowledge
  3. Something else

LinkedInChat #Live

Some of you prefer to chat on LinkedIn by adding a comment instead of joining YouTube. I hear you!!!

Dr.Charles Ikem and I plan to host a #LinkedInChat Live right after the weeklywed live at  10am pt/19 cest/2pm Brazil. (LinkedIn chat link will be updated here)

You can come join on LinkedIn live or come back and add a question or tag a friend. We have invited Facebook Recruiter Meg Rye to talk about AI Designer jobs on our LinkedIn Live chat.

Our goal is to introduce you to new AI Jobs and get answers on top challenges and how to eliminate them on your path to pivot your careers to exciting new tech!

Join me on #WeeklyWedLive at 9am PT  or LinkedIn Chat at 10am PT (I'll update the LinkedIn Chat link also on DriverlessWorldSchool).

Shh, my secret launch of my new AIX book!!!

Dear Students, you are first in the world to know of my secret project, my upcoming book called "AIX"
The AIX  book  is about Designing for AI using data to help product managers, designers and business managers.  The AIX book is going to fill the gap between the depths of AI model tech and the business considerations So I will share examples to explain how the models are chosen and applied in real business.

Tell me your AI data Story!!!

For this AIX book, I need to hear from you on your experience working with AI models to build real business solutions.
I have some case studies but have some gaps, so I need your help/referrals to cover recommendations, anomaly detection and prediction algorithms applied in real business setting with reasons and best practice.

As an example, from my ecommerce (eBay) past I could say recommendation engine uses collaborative filtering using matrix factorization if we have past customer behavior data  but if past user data is sparse, a business could build the recommendation engine using implicit ALS to train the model.  Do you have one such example to share in the AIX book?

I want to teach the PM and Business Manager what business conditions require what models. Then teach the Designer how to design the UX using data to create a customer centered experience with the AI (ML in this case).

Talk to me if you have experience or know someone who does or even if you have a business situation where you are stuck trying to apply ML.
I learnt  the reality of ML in business from a project where ML did not work for a business problem we were trying to solve because of data veracity issues. (in my distant past before Stanford CSP) :-)

Learning Resources:

1. Ed Zitron has a honest and funny summary of what he saw in CES. Here.

2. Here's a free online course "Machine Learning for Musicians and Artists". Teaches ML well focused on gesture and making movement to music. Good one to learn if you are interested in unique ML examples with a focus on interactive design related to IoT and movement and this covers Classification and Regression which you can apply elsewhere too. Taught by Dr. Rebecca Fiebrink of Goldsmith University, London and she has built a tool called Wekinator which helps build ML models without coding and tie to music. Cool stuff, check it out. Here.

3. AI Skills and Explainable AI are top skills concern for 2020. Here.

Sudha's AI course at Stanford Continuing Studies:

Mar 14/15 2020: Artificial Intelligence Bootcamp for Product Managers and Business Managers at Standford Continuing Studies. (Details here. Reg open, fills on first come first served basis). Feel free to talk to me if you want my input if this course will help your goals.

Upcoming Conferences:

Re:Work: Jan 30-31, San Francisco: Applied AI/Deep Learning Summit

AHR: Feb 3-5, Orlando. AHR Expo about Automated Buildings focused on HVACR (Think Nest for commercial buildings! You'll be surprised by the Iot and AI and data in Buildings. I wrote about data in AIX last week and in CES ,TOTO, plumbing company of Georgia-Pacific announced my same idea of IoT in restrooms in Atlanta airport!

Book Reco:

A new book Wicked Company by Marcus Kirsch is here. Worth your time to understand how to be successful in digital transformation.

Best Wishes to continue your learning journey, its never late and you can always find time.
