Given the recently revised CDC guidelines and increasing rate of vaccinations, we are planning to hold our annual meeting in-person in August. Be assured we will be following all safety protocols recommended at that time. When we have a location and date confirmed, we'll be sending out the details. We look forward to seeing our neighbors soon!

WRCO and the West Ridge Chamber are continuing in their efforts to open a Trader Joe's in West Ridge. After reaching out to the corporation several times with no response, we approached Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky. Fortunately, she was able to speak with a development person in the region and gain their attention. At this time, we have submitted an application to them for a store including our petition with close to 1500 signatures and positive comments from over 400 residents, along with support letters from Ald. Silverstein and State Rep. Denyse Stoneback. Given the strong neighborhood support, it is our understanding that West Ridge will be included in next year's real estate strategy planning.
Let's continue to collect more signatures on the petition so Trader Joe's knows our community wants and will support a store. While we have almost 1,500 signatures, let's aim to reach 2,000! Here's the link to the petition - if you've already signed please ask your neighbors to sign.

While the West Ridge Artists group has not been able to showcase their work in person, some artists are posting new work on the West Ridge Artists YouTube Channel! Watch videos produced by Mirko Popadic, see artwork by Ray Noesen and listen to music by Rich Trumbo. Check back often as new videos are being posted.

Examining the City data from the Health and Human Services Department, our community (zip codes 60645 and 60659) is getting vaccinated at rates close to the state figures: 36% have completed their vaccinations and have full coverage and 47.7% are partially vaccinated, having received at least one dose.
If you've been vaccinated, please encourage your family members, friends and neighbors to also get vaccinated. Let's work together to make our community a safe place to shop, live and enjoy.
