Happy April dear friends and family,

"The Earth laughs in flowers" feels like a very fitting quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson for this time of year (at least in the Northern Hemisphere) where everything is springing forth with new life and vitality!  And I hope, despite the current world situation, you can find with these new blessings in your own life too :)

I was inspired recently by a fellow artist to start working again from actual observation in my sketchbook which I hadn't done in a long time.. I mostly work from reference photos with my creations or imagination...
A short little video showing the creation of this beautiful Kansas cottonwood I call "King Arthur"
I sat down with a magnificent tree on the farm where I grew up in Kansas, and started sketching this majestic one who I call "King Arthur Cottonwood" :) I had quite a bit of resistance in the beginning, thinking I needed to take care of other more "important" projects, and that this would take up too much of my time, etc!  Oh how the mind/ ego likes to create resistance and imagined problems haha!

In the process, I realized how much joy it brought to me to just sit still and focus with no other distractions (esp. in our fast paced world), observing the textures, shapes of branches, and the patterns in which they grow.  It even seemed that time had expanded itself within that space and I had so many other wonderful revelations and insights, like puzzle pieces coming together of seemingly unrelated things and events.

In saying all of this, I realized how important it is to take time (even if only 10 min a day) to do what you love, as it really helps to put everything else into perspective and bring a sense of purpose and satisfaction at a deeper level.  A quote I love and would like to share with you as well is:  "You are of the greatest value to yourself and others when you are pursuing your heart's desires with grace and confidence"
Spring Pastels
I'm happy to share some recent pastel drawings with you here.   The tree pastel on the left (or directly below on phone view) has been sold and on it's way to the collector,  however I currently have the ocean scene in Normandy, France, (inspired by the artist Alexey Alpatov's oil of this area) available.  I call this one  "Freedom"  and it's in my Etsy shop if you would like to take a look here:
*You can click on the image of it as well to take you there :)

Angels for Peace
I'm delighted to announce that because of your generosity through the inspired donation "Angels for Peace" we were able to give $500.00 to help the Ukrainian efforts through
Thank you again!
It is an honor to be of service through art and share these Angels with you as well!

I very much look forward to sharing some exciting news with you next month and a special offer to win my beautiful hand-detailed pastel giclee'  "Full Moon Blessings"!
Thank you so much for your compassionate heart, love, and support!

Sending Spring blessings of renewal, hope, love, and joy to surround you in every moment!

With gratitude + love,
Laura Krusemark
