Rosenqvist Entreprenad Changes Sleepers with SB40
At the end of August, the Swedish contracting company Rosenqvist Entreprenad started a 10-week long sleeper replacement project in Sweden. 6000 sleepers on nine different tracks are to be replaced. Two units of the Pandrol sleeper changing attachment SB40 have been purchased for this project.
The SB40 is designed for use on 8-ton machines, to be light-weight and easy to operate. In this project, the SB40 units are used on two bigger machines, a Huddig and a Volvo EWR150E. The low weight and maneuverability on the SB40 are very much appreciated by the operators.
Just in time for this project the new RRT trailer from Pandrol was delivered. The RRT trailer, which can tip the load in three directions and has a wireless control of the flatbed, can be used on both road and rail. For this project Rosenqvist Entreprenad uses six carrier machines, three sleeper replacement attachment, two trailers with 17,5 ton loading capacity, the RRT road-rail trailer, a number of buckets and grabs, a ballast brush, tamping unit and a track aligner. Also, a truck with a loader crane is used for transporting the sleepers as well as a number of carriers for transporting the machines. A staff of 15-20 people are working on this project that will run until the beginning of November.

We are Pandrol
Rodney Andersson has been working as a fitter, service technician and trainer of Rosenqvist products at Pandrol in Hudiksvall since 2016.
What does a typical workday look like?
It can be very different from day to day depending on what needs to be delivered. I have very varied work tasks with assembly and testing of new machines, as well as service and starting up the machines on site with our customers. Right now, I'm building two new Clip Driver CD400SPs for Kennards in Australia. When I'm out with a customer, I'm ready for anything and always make sure I'm well prepared.
What is the most exotic trip you’ve made for Pandrol?
I have to say the start-up and training of Clip Driver CD400SP at Kennards Hire Rail in Rutherford, Australia this summer. I got to know a wonderful group of people at Kennards and Australia is so different to Sweden, hot and it has animals that you can’t find anywhere else.
What do you do when you aren’t at work?
I work with my 1960 Desoto or on my Valmet 7000 tractor backhoe loader. The tractor will come in handy when I'm renovating my house and my farm. I really love my Desoto!

Pandrol goes underground
The Swedish mining company LKAB has an iron ore mine in Kiruna, north of the arctic circle in Sweden. For various rail maintenance work in the mine LKAB uses a rail converted excavator, Volvo ECR38, and a purpose-built road rail trailer that can tilt its flatbed sideways. Both the excavator and the trailer with hydraulic traction have been converted for rail operation by Pandrol. This vehicle setup is ideal for the rail work underground. The rail-converted excavator is used also for other types of maintenance work, such as sleeper change.
We design, develop and manufacture equipment to make constructing and maintaining railways more efficient. Our smart machinery increases productivity, reduces possession times and improves the safety of those working in the industry.
