Annapolis Spring Sailboat Show
We had a blast talking with lots of people at the Annapolis Boat Shows Spring Sailboat Show this weekend—thanks to Chesapeake Bay Magazine for taking a moment at our booth to help us highlight our upcoming Demo Day (June 23). Check out the video here to learn more!
And special thanks to Robin Richards and all those who spent the time to make this booth a success!
What a busy weekend it was for the Junior Program! We had a lot going on and will continue to for the rest of the season. Friday-Sunday we were part of the SSA booth at the Annapolis Spring Boat Show! We had Junior Sailors as well as Junior Parents helping out and spreading the fun of sailing @ SSA to everyone in Annapolis. We also had 2 regattas this past weekend. One in DC sail, which unfortunately was not able to finish as they were only able to get 2 races in A division in. The following day, Sunday, we had a JV regatta: Broadneck finished 4thoverall, Archbishop Spalding finished 5thand Key School finished in 9th. We were supposed to have a Keelboat regatta on Saturday but due to the high winds they had to cancel the event. Coming up this weekend for our Junior Sailors is the MDISA Champs at Baltimore County Sailing Center, the MASSA Women’s regatta in Tom’s River, MDISA Women’s at Tred Avon, and a JV Regatta at Sail Center Chesapeake in Tall Timbers. We also have 2 different teams sailing the NOOD regatta this weekend! One in the J/70 class with the crew of Josh Becker (Broadneck Junior), Emma Snead (Broadneck Senior), and Lucien Parker (Broadneck Junior), the Helly Hansen sponsored J/70 youth team. We also have a second team made up of Charles Anderson (Key School Sophomore), Hugh Carty (Archbishop Spalding 8thgrade), Emma Kissel (Key School Sophomore), and Molly Roden (Key School Freshman).
Botanas Fajardo: Great Food at SSA...
and at Home!
Did you know that not only can you enjoy terrific food from our new snack bar team, Botanas Fajardo, at the club, but they have a neat way to enjoy their food at your home for your non-sailing days? Their taco kits and dips can be a great way to have a quick dinner on a busy weeknight. They are in the process of setting up a storefront out off of Forest Drive, but in the meantime will offer this tasty option for pickup at SSA (of course, nonmembers must park on the street rather than in the SSA lot).
Details and menu for the week are posted via their Facebook page (give them a follow!); easiest way to place an order is via Facebook Messenger, but you can place your order with Angel or Martin when you're at the club. For next week, place your order by Tuesday for pickup at SSA Wednesday, May 1, 4-7:30 p.m., or Thursday, May 2, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
