Junior Program Updates

October is a busy month in the Junior Program and we have started off with a bang! Our Opti sailors went to North East River Yacht club and had a great performance with Ashton Perkins winning white fleet and Robbie Herzog coming in 2nd while Hartley Cooper finished with a solid 3rd place in Blue fleet! Meanwhile our High School sailors went to Baltimore for the MDISA league fleet race, which is a qualifier for our district fleet race, and 2 out of our 4 teams qualified for the MASSA silver fleet championship in Toms River this coming weekend. Broadneck and Key school will be competing to try and qualify for ACC’s. You can follow our teams on techscore if you are interested.

The Facilities Committee has two more Work Parties scheduled for 2018!  The first is on October 20 with the second on November 4.  We are hoping for 8-10 people on both days.  The plan for the October WP is to strip off the old pier 3 deck and replace along with some rubrail and floating dock repair.  Tools are provided, although we can always use an extra hammer and cordless drill.  The November party will be for general end of the year cleanup.  Work gloves are always your friend.
We hope you can join us for one or both!

Seeking Elves for December 8 Parade of Lights Celebration

We've only just turned the calendar to October, but we're already looking ahead to the December holidays! One of the highlights of the SSA year is enjoying the Eastport YC Parade of Lights from the SSA facilities. The bulk of the work that evening is done by our snack bar operators (beverages) and members who bring the fantastic food and we have a "chief elf" to oversee the evening. It's a super fun way to support the SSA family and a great way to get into the holiday spirit! If you'd like to volunteer to help out with the effort that evening, please contact Cathy in the office.

Upcoming Dates to Remember

Annual Meeting & Brunch - November 11th
Artisan Fair - December 1st
Parade of Lights - December 8th
