Yoga in the Desert Botanical Gardens
The Lewis Headache Center is excited to share this unique yoga event with you! With the help of our donors, we will be able to offer two free events at the Desert Botanical Gardens. The event will include a yoga class followed by a walking meditation in the park. The dates for this event will be March 9 and April 13. For more information, view the flyer here
On the Horizon
The Lewis Headache Center wellness team is continuously working to offer more in the wellness program. We are currently working on creating a mindfulness course for headache patients.

Mindfulness is the ability to develop awareness in a nonjudgmental way to one's own physical and mental processes during everyday tasks and events. Mindfulness practice has the ability to directly influence one's mental and physical health, and improve overall quality of life. Sessions will include meditations and exercises for awareness development, which can be powerful tools for headache patients living with debilitating pain.
Try Something New: Journaling
Journaling is a great way to externalize your thoughts and feelings. Journaling has been found to be helpful for achieving goals, tracking growth, gaining self-confidence, reducing stress and anxiety, and improving memory and problem solving. It is no surprise that many famous individuals such as Albert Einstein, Leonardo Da Vinci, and Anne Frank kept a consistent practice of journaling.

Below you will find some intentional journal prompts to wrap up this year and prepare for welcoming the new year. You might choose to write this in a journal or a simple piece of paper. If this does not suit you, you can try simply sitting with each question for a moment and mindfully considering your response. You can also simply choose one question that resonates the most with you and reflect on that.
  • What were your big wins this year?
  • What were your small wins this year?
  • What were your challenges this year?
  • For every challenge on your list, write down one (or more) lessons, tools, or gifts your challenges gave you this year.
  • What do you need to shed or leave behind from this past year?
  • Who were the most integral people in your life this past year?
  • How did these people support you, teach you, or help you to grow?
  • With that in mind, what are your health goals for this coming year?
  • What are your personal goals or intentions for this coming year?
  • What is one small thing you are manifesting for this coming year?
  • What is one big thing you are manifesting for this coming year?
If you enjoyed this exercise, consider picking up a journaling practice. This can take on many forms, such as free writing in a beautiful new notebook, keeping a sketch journal or an exercise log, or even using a gratitude journal.

May 2023 bring you lots of healing and happy memories.  We look forward to practicing with you in the new year.
