Warehouse Review 002 | A Review of Reviews
Warehouse Review 002 | A Review of Reviews
$18.00
The Warehouse Review series aim to give a proper analysis and contextualization of certain contemporary fashion phenomena, but not only through an essayistic approach. Instead, various methods of research and analysis are deployed to zoom in on specific aspects that make – in our estimation – a fashion phenomenon into what it is.

In his fall 2020 collection, Nicolas Ghesquière, the creative director of Louis Vuitton womenswear, explored notions around time. Talking to Nicole Phelps, the Director of Vogue Runway, he stated: “I wanted to imagine what could happen if the past could look at us.” With that sentiment in mind, the contributors of this Warehouse Review interrogated these, now historical written records, that collectively make up a response to Louis Vuitton fall 2020 presentation.

Reading about fashion - if not what, then how?

What To Buy For The Fashion-Focused Reader In Your Life p.33 is a transcription and categorization of the paratexts from one renowned high-end fashion magazine per month, spanning the course of a full year. The document, put together by Femke de Vries, serves as an archive and textual work that, by isolating and categorizing titles, subtitles and captions, brings the use of text in luxury fashion magazines to the surface.

The manual encompasses the patterns of a modular clothing system that consists of four different shapes which can be combined into a full outfit (a sleeve, a top, a trouser leg and a part of a skirt). As it is easy-to-use everyone can make the pieces themselves.

Reading My Panties Issue #1 | A Collective Manifesto
Reading My Panties Issue #1 | A Collective Manifesto
$20.00
Panties, understood as an item of women’s undergarment for the lower body, record our daily usage and bodily maintenance. It’s like a locked diary that we use frequently but barely scrutinise and discuss. Initiated by Lu Lin, the first issue includes ten women's stories of scrutinising panties, exposing how social constructs—self-objectification, gender regulations, conventional chastity, taboos, slut-shaming, body-shaming, etc.— hinder women’s sense of safety and feeling at home in their bodies.

A Fruiting Body of Collective Labour: Working Towards a De-Hierarchised System for Fashion Education
$5.00
In this essay, Hanka van der Voet and Chet Bugter write about the possibility of a new model for fashion (education), drawing inspiration from the distributed networks of mycorrhizal fungi, as well as the symbioses of lichen.
