What Happened this Week?
Mayoral Contest in Aurora
Linda Chapa LaVia continues to lead the pack in fundraising in the race for Mayor of Aurora, bringing in
this week. LaVia has $209,990 in cash on hand. The next highest fundraiser in the race is Rick Guzman, with $95,044 on hand. Four candidates, and a handful of write-ins, will face off in the city's Primary Election on Tuesday, February 28th.

Race for 4th Ward Alderman
A year after 4th Ward Alderman Will Burns resigned to pursue work in the private sector, five candidates are now vying for his seat,
including Sophia King, the current appointee to the position. King was one of this week's top fundraisers, bringing in
$24,000. Her committee currently shows $194,568 in funds on hand. King's four opponents, Gregory Livingston, Ebony Lucas, Marcellus Moore, and Gerald Scott McCarthy, have between $3,000 and $16,000 in their respective committees. The five candidates will face off in a special election on Tuesday, February 28th.

Mayor of McCook
Jeff Tobolski, Mayor of McCook, Illinois (a suburb in Cook County) is uncontested in his race for re-election on April 4, 2017, according to the McCook City Clerk's office. However, Tobolski is one of the top fundraisers of the week, bringing in a total of
$19,500, mostly from $1,000 - $2,000 donations. Tobolski is also the 16th District Cook County Commissioner, a position which is not up for re-election until 2018. Tobolski's political committee currently has $301,972 in funds available.
