Cindy Kilgo Brooks July 29th - September 3rd
Opening reception July 29th 6-8pm
Cindy's work will be on exhibit in the Aiken Artists Guild Gallery at the Aiken Center for the Arts.
My current collection of art catalogs many good memories. Having a close connection to the subject matter allows me to feel as if I am re-creating a back in the moment experience. The paintings depict my enthusiasm for animals and outdoor interests. The animal portraits evolved from recalling my companions or animals that just make me smile.
My choice of media typically includes watercolor, pen and ink, but recently I am exploring pastels. Curiosity led me to experiment using different types of pastel and the different brands of textured
surfaces. This allowed me to observe how different pastels and diverse surface textures affect the outcome.
Tactilely liking the feel of pastel dust I enjoyed building and moving the illusion of texture, color, value, and shape. This eventually allowed me to direct 20% of my net proceeds to local shelters.
Over the summer the AAG newsletter will be distributed as the need arises. Please continue to submit information to the newsletter so that we can all stay informed about what is happening in the Aiken art world.
