The AAG April meeting will be held Monday, April 12 at the Aiken Center for the Arts. We will again forgo our social time and start the meeting at 7pm. We will continue to follow the ACA pandemic protocols for distanced seating and face coverings. The meeting will also be available through Zoom.
The April program will feature Nick Mackman.
Nick Mackman is an award winning sculptor of ceramic and bronze animal sculptures. She has been widely exhibited and in 2015 she won the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation (DSWF) Wildlife Artist of the Year competition. In 2012 she was Overall Runner-up and category winner in 2010.
Her animal sculptures have found homes with, amongst others, John Cleese, Dame Judi Dench, Chris Packham, David Shepherd and Viscountess Serena Linley. She has been commissioned by British Airways and the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition (pictured below with Sir David Attenborough). Her work is held in numerous private collections and is prized for its striking intensity and personality. Many of her subjects are highly endangered and she actively supports the work of animal and nature conservation charities at home and abroad. She lives in Devon in the South West of England with her husband, twins and two dogs.
Please see the member show page on the AAG website for more show details and to sign up online.
The judge for this year’s member show will be Jacki Mayo Van Dyke. Jacki is a multidisciplinary artist active in the CSRA and particularly in downtown Augusta. She has participated in exhibits at the Gertrude Herbert, Westobou gallery, as well as many local businesses, twice received the Porter Fleming Foundation award and twice been a regional semifinalist for the Bombay Artisan Series Contest showing work at the ZuCot and Mason Galleries in Atlanta. Jacki enjoys painting live during Arts in the Heart with the Artzilla group, and offering mentorship to others branching out, wanting to share their work with our wonderful community. Some of her work and full CV can be viewed at www.fullmetaljacki.com
Also, note that you will need to be an up-to-date member of the guild in order to participate in the show.
Judy Adamick won an honorable mention in the Springfest exhibition now showing at the Arts and Heritage Center in North Augusta, SC.

MEMBERSHIPS and RENEWALS We are now past November 1, all renewals are now $45. As always, new memberships remain $40.
It is anticipated that there will be several AAG board member positions to be filled at our May meeting. Anyone who has an interest in joining the AAG board may use the contact form on our website to let your interest be known. It is only through the volunteer efforts of all of our members that the AAG is able to continue its mission in our community. Please consider joining the board or volunteering in another capacity.
The ACA main gallery’s current exhibition will run through April 30.
One artist celebrating The Friends of Hopelands and Rye Patch will be AAG member Brooks Brown.
Brooks will be submitting two digital photographs using her signature artograph style. She's thrilled to be given this opportunity to exhibit her artworks by being a member with both "AAG" and "ACA". She first was introduced to Hopeland Gardens in December of 2018 and was immediately enamored by it's winter elegance as you'll see in her Quintessential Hopeland Gardens' piece. She's returned on several occasions and her second entry represents more of a summer feel in the Hopeland Gardens' Archways.
