The Make It York business team will be moving over to City of York Council’s Economic Growth team on 1 September 2021, in a move to strengthen the delivery of business support, economic development and inward investment activity across York. Read the team profiles to find out who can help you best with your business support needs, offer advice and answer questions. 
Sports clubs and organisations are encouraged to apply for two new grants totalling £25,000 from City of York Council to help communities be more active. The two sources of funding – the Small Grants Fund and the Hub Club Fund - both aim to encourage more people to boost their physical and emotional wellbeing by getting more exercise at local organisations’ venues. The 2022 Queen’s Award for Enterprise (QAE) awards are open for applications! The awards recognise and encourage outstanding achievements in the fields of Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity through social mobility. Businesses are asked to complete their applications before 8 September 2021. Find out more
The University of York has signed a 15 year lease of the Guildhall, which will bring the historic building back to the forefront of the city’s social, business and civic life. Restoration and redevelopment of the Guildhall began in September 2019, following significant investment by City of York Council and is expected to be completed at the end of October 2021. As part of PACT’s 30th Anniversary activities celebrating disruption, innovation and creativity, they are looking for 30 of the UK’s most exciting emerging production and distribution indies to take part in the Future30 development scheme. The selected indies will benefit from a tailored programme of support to help their businesses to grow. A new summer #LoveYork campaign has been launched by Visit York this month, in partnership with York Park & Ride, to encourage residents and visitors to explore the city’s many ‘hidden gems.’ The campaign highlighting some of York’s best kept secrets, includes a brand new TV advert airing on ITV hub from this week featuring local attractions & businesses. York Theatre Royal is once again touring the city with Around the World in 80 Days from 6 to 28 August 2021. This globe-trotting romp is the perfect substitute for a holiday abroad, and people can see the performance both outdoors or at the theatre. Suitable for ages 7 and up.

Everyone is invited to join the York Creatives Night Market evening at Shambles Market on 20 August to browse the art and products by independent traders. There'll be street food, drinks and music all evening, and the night market is free and open to all to attend.

The Joseph Rowntree Theatre is set to host its very first summer garden party in Stockton on the Forest on 22 August. Guests can expect tea and scones accompanied by live entertainment and a chance to chat to theatre volunteers about the forthcoming season’s programme.
