The Prime Minister held a press conference this week outlining more details about step 4, the final stage of the England's roadmap, which is expected to start on 19 July. A new document was published - ‘COVID-19 Response: Summer 2021’ which sets out the details of the final roadmap step (Step 4) as we transition out of lockdown. Find out more

City of York Council want to understand from businesses across York how the local economy is changing, and how the future plans for Transport, Carbon Reduction and Economy should reflect the needs of businesses in the city. York Businesses are invited to complete the My City Centre York business survey, which has been created specifically with business in mind to explore the challenges and opportunities faced in York’s city centre. My City Centre York is a city-wide conversation to inform a new vision for the centre of York.

WECAN is a new programme that provides funded training to businesses and their female employees to build leadership skills, capabilities, and opportunities. All eligible York SMEs who are interested in supporting their female employees to progress into leadership and management roles, are invited to access this free programme. Find out more

Read the latest guidance for Culture Recovery Fund: Emergency Resource Support. This is a new fund for organisations at imminent risk of failure and will support them to return to financial stability by the end of the year. Organisations can apply for grants of between £25,000 and up to £3 million (non-profit) or up to £1 million (for-profit). How would you like to see Agritech and Biotech SMEs and entrepreneurs supported in Yorkshire? Visit York's Summer of Sport campaign launches on Friday this week! Coordinated by our team, First Group and THOR’s Tipi alongside a range of local businesses, the city centre activity includes an interactive sporty sculpture trail, YO1 Beach Club, urban running routes, free yoga classes, outdoor ping pong tables and more. Get involved
Inviting all York businesses to get in involved in this year's Yorkshire Day celebrations (on 1st August) organised by Make It York, the York BID and City of York Council with a full weekend of activities. Dress your windows with a Yorkshire Day theme and share your pictures on social media using #York_ShireDay and #LoveYork tagging @VisitYorkBiz and @theyorkbid.
The UK’s biggest outdoor Ice Trail will be returning for two days on 5 and 6 February 2022 with a range of magnificent ice sculptures set to transform York’s city centre. Get involved in the 'coolest' event in the city by becoming a sponsor and choosing your own ice sculpture to be part of the trail.

Congratulations to the York-based supplier of data-driven solutions to the rail industry, Incremental, celebrating success in the government-backed ‘First of a Kind’ funding competition. One of 30 successful applicants from 160 entries, Incremental will now bring its ground-breaking freight train location tracking solution to fruition. Find out more
Park Bench Theatre is back to York’s Rowntree Park this month with a new play by Olivier award-winning writer Mike Kenny to celebrate the park’s centenary this year. The Park Keeper is being performed in The Friends’ Garden - where Park Bench Theatre staged three monologues last summer – from 7 to 17 July. Find out more
Celebrating a special anniversary in 2021, York Open Studios features over 140 artists and makers showing and selling their work within their homes and workspaces in York. Taking place on 10-11 and 17-18 July, the event is a fabulous opportunity for art lovers to enjoy fresh air, meet the artists and view and buy unique arts and crafts from local artists. Find out more
McArthurGlen Designer Outlet York has launched a new art installation in collaboration with local artist Emma Hardaker. Visitors to the shopping centre will now be greeted by an art installation that depicts the name of the city in vibrant shades of blue, pink and orange and is a welcome surprise for centre guests. York Early Music Festival return to this year for just 5 days from 12 - 15 July with a series of concerts of the highest possible quality within a secure, comfortable environment. The festival, established in 1977, is designed to celebrate York’s myriad medieval churches, guildhalls and historic houses through historically informed music making. Find out more
As nights start to draw in, York Theatre Royal is filling their stage with spirits and shadows in The Haunted Season. The new season this autumn will include world premieres by Emma Rice, Matthew Bourne and Tonderai Munyevu plus appearances from Dracula, The Hound of the Baskervilles and the Headless Horseman.
