On Monday this week the Prime Minister has confirmed England's move to the fourth and final step of the country's roadmap out of lockdown from 19 July. The government continues to advise caution and personal responsibility as well as continued uptake on the vaccination programme.

York-based charities, social enterprises, voluntary and community groups can now apply for a new cultural and social prescribing grant scheme brought by the York CVS, Make It York and City of York Council. Grants of up to £5000 are available to support initiatives that boost mental and physical wellbeing and reduce isolation through cultural and social engagement.

York Businesses are invited to complete the My City Centre York business survey, which has been created specifically with business in mind to explore the challenges and opportunities faced in York’s city centre. My City Centre York is a city-wide conversation to inform a new vision for the centre of York.

SMEs are invited to take their business to the next level with the government’s new Help to Grow programme, aimed to help organisations and their team to learn new skills, reach new customers and boost profits. With two option available for Help to Grow: Management and Help to Grow: Digital, businesses can now register their interest online. Find out more
The Leeds City Region Supply Chain Programme introduces a new Business & Supply Chain Management Diagnostic tool for SMEs. The tool helps advisors to investigate business areas, while providing business owners with a visual indication of areas that need attention and improvement in order to build a more resilient and innovative model. Calderdale College, Textile Centre of Excellence and Brook Corporate Developments introduce a brand new Engineering and Advanced Manufacturing Project. The purpose of this pilot project is to engage with employers across the Leeds City Region to better understand the barriers, challenges and needs of the sector’s SME and large companies. York-based GrowthBox is looking for businesses to try its marketing platform for FREE in return for feedback. Many businesses struggle finding and keeping customers and knowing who to trust with their marketing. GrowthBox helps small businesses work out what to do and connects them with local marketing experts to help them do it. Find out more
The future of Yorkshire as a hub for robotic innovation has taken a step towards becoming a reality with the imminent launch of an ambitious £45m research centre at the University of York. Opening later this year, the centre aims to place the city at the forefront of research to help tackle some of the biggest societal challenges.

Visit York's Summer of Sport campaign is now live! Delivered in partnership between Make It York, First Bus York and THOR’s Tipi alongside a range of local businesses, the city centre activity includes an interactive sporty sculpture trail, YO1 Beach Club, urban running routes, free yoga classes, outdoor ping pong tables and more. The city is celebrating 100 Days to Go until the first match of the Rugby League World Cup 2021. Make It York are giving out 100 tickets to rugby fans through a special online competition, while the city is getting ready to welcome both teams and the sport fans this autumn for matches at the brand new LNER Community Stadium. Designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing in people over the age of 55 living in York, a series of activities were created for participants to take part in in their own homes and positively boost mind, body and soul during lockdown. Rowntree Park is celebrating its 100th Birthday on 16 July 2021! To mark the centenary, the Friends of Rowntree Park have organised a range of projects, events and activities, with the latest one being ‘Art in the Park'. Local artists have submitted pieces of work based on Rowntree Park and these will be displayed at the park this summer. Find out more
This year Christmas at Castle Howard Presents ‘Christmas in Narnia’ with tickets going on sale from 26 July. Inspired by the C. S. Lewis novels, the historic house will be turned into the wintery, magical land of Narnia.
