'First Light on the Covered Bridge'
© Robin Edmundson, watercolor, 14 x 10 inches.
Framed to 20 x 16 inches.  $375

Hello lovely friends!
One of my favorite things about winter is the light.  Golden light against blue shadow.  Winter sunrises are warm against a frosty blue landscape.  Winter sunsets are spectacular affairs of salmon and gold and sharp edged silhouettes of bare trees.   There is no end of inspiration and if I'm honest, I doubt that I will ever be able to capture the feeling of a clear winter twilight.  It's on my bucket list though, and  I'll keep working on it.

I have been working steadily, practicing the craft of rendering a place and feeling in watercolor and I am pleased when after a few weeks I take a look at the keeper pile and see that I have almost enough for my upcoming show at the Venue in Bloomington, Indiana in April.  I love framing day and am excited that many of them are already framed and ready to hang.  I can't wait for you to see them.

If you're not already receiving my postcards, and you'd like to receive one with the details of my upcoming shows, please email me with your street address and I'll make sure you get one.

Our snowdrops are blooming despite the ducks nibbling on them and the crocuses in the forcing jars in the house are just starting to bloom.  Spring is slowly unfolding and I'm excited to be painting during this quiet season.

Sending you much peace and many beautiful views!

On the blog...

I've been thinking a lot about my creative process lately.   It was my habit for a long time to push and try harder [harder!] all the time to make progress and while that has had its benefits, it also makes it difficult for me to tap into a peaceful flow and to learn to let the wild and willful nature of watercolor do its thing.  I find myself trying to force it rather than trying to work with it.  To that end, I have revised my creative practice, and it's paying about it here.
