Nebraska Ag in Washington, D.C.

NDA planned a series of events and meetings in Washington, D.C., for agriculture industry representatives to talk with congressional delegates, government officials and embassy diplomats about current ag issues including international trade and animal disease threats. NDA Director Steve Wellman and Assistant Director Amelia Breinig represented the state and provided, along with other group members, updates on the devastating floods in March still affecting Nebraska farmers and ranchers.
Nebraska agriculture was well represented at the nation’s capital with the following people and organizations in attendance:

  • Steve Wellman, Nebraska Department of Agriculture
  • Amelia Breinig, Nebraska Department of Agriculture
  • Robert Johnston, Nebraska Soybean Association
  • Kris Bousquet, Nebraska State Dairy Association
  • Bill Thiele, Nebraska State Dairy Association
  • Bill Luckey, Nebraska Pork Producers Association
  • David Bruntz, Nebraska Corn Board
  • Andy Jobman, Nebraska Corn Growers Association
  • Mike Drinnin, Nebraska Cattlemen Association
  • Nate Blum, Nebraska Grain Sorghum
  • Rob Robertson, Farm Bureau
NDA would especially like to thank the many sponsors who made this trip possible:
  • Nebraska Farm Bureau
  • Nebraska Cattlemen Association, and
  • Nebraska Corn Board
