Adrienne Truscott—choreographer, circus acrobat, dancer, writer, and as of late, comedian—has been making genre-straddling work in New York City and abroad. Next month Truscott will perform Asking For It in New York City at Joe's Pub on Thursday, June 29th!

Name: Adrienne Truscott    ::    Occupation: Performance Artist/Writer/Choreographer    ::    City: Brooklyn    ::    Astrological sign: Scorpio

When you're not creating: I'm in the bath or the ocean or on a bike. Which are great places to create if you can't afford rehearsal space.

End of the day unwind: Wine & a fire outside, if it's summer.

First gig: Oh God. Singing in an African-American Gospel Choir at a church in New Haven. Note: I'm neither African-American or a good singer.

Currently reading: A biography of Patricia Hearst, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Bruce Springsteen. Just to clarify, it's three different books, not some weird tome linking the three of them.

Your personal masterpiece: Adrienne Truscott's Asking For It: A One-Lady Rape About Comedy Starring Her Pussy and Little Else!

Most important failure: The show I made right after Asking For It. #secondalbumsyndrome

Favorite interview you've done:

Why you love your city: Because it is the furthest fucking thing from a 'bubble' in the WORLD!

Recurring dream: The kittens! the kittens! Why are there so many kittens that need help?! Ahhh, How do I gather all the kittens? There I did it....Fuck, where did that new kitten come from?! Like once a month.

Tech that runs your world: iPhone but I probably only understand about 40% of what it's capable of but I do think that voice control Siri is the closes I'll ever get to having an assistant.

Personal role model: God, if only, if only I had had one! I feel the influence of too many

Best thing you ever made: A cake for my boyfriend Carmine in the shape of a C and he asked why is it shaped like a U? Also made him a cake which was just a huge tower of different donuts because I'm busy and I'm no baker. Please feel free to try this. It was a big hit and super easy to make.

Worst thing you ever made: Decision to check out a loft in a huge building in Bushwick before noon on a Sunday, i.e. before every whackass person who lived there woke up and I realized it was a living hell full of bedbugs, leaking ceilings, sexist landlords and people who owned dogs but didn't take them out. Sadly, I'd already signed a lease, but moved out after a week and spent a year in housing court battling the meanest, grossest people I've ever met.

The future/What's next: The New Intersectional Resistance Party.

Ladies who we should know: Amanda Duarte, Carolyn Castiglia, Betty Grumble, Lisa Fa'alafi, Gillian Walsh, Sophia Cleary from the band Penis, Kathryn Musilek, Justin Vivian Bond, Meow Meow, Maggie Nelson, Ursula Martinez, Zoe Coombs Marr
