Alumnus Testimonial: "In my seven years at Faith Academy, I received a great education because my teachers challenged me in my academic strengths and built me up in my weaknesses by very personal and careful instruction. Better than any academic education, the school's community provided a safe place for me to grow in the Lord and the love of Jesus. One of my favorite things about Faith Academy was praying at the beginning of every class because it brought academia and following Jesus together. My teachers really sought to exemplify that whatever they do, whether in word or deed, they were doing it in the name of the Lord Jesus (Colossians 3:17)." Elementary & Junior High News
Faith Academy Junior High Basketball Teams Capture District Championships! The Faith Academy junior high and elementary basketball season came to an exciting conclusion Thursday night with both the girls’ and boys’ junior high teams coming away with district championships. The elementary boys also played for the district championship but fell a little short. The elementary girls too fought hard in their tournament game but couldn’t pull it out in the end.
The second junior high boys’ team lost in the first round but played hard even though they were shorthanded and had to finish the game with only four players on the floor.
“It was a great season at all levels,” said Faith Academy Athletic Director Randy Denton. “I want to commend all the players for their hard work and dedication to the basketball program as well as representing Faith Academy in a positive light. I would also like to thank all the coaches and parents for their hard work and support. We understand the sacrifices that all involved have made to make sure that our kids have these positive experiences in their lives. I am already looking forward to next year and to continue to build on the successes of this year.”

Solar S’mores a Big Hit for 5th Graders! When you think of making s’mores, you generally picture people gathered around a campfire at night roasting marshmallows. However, Pamela Dillard’s 5th grade science class decided to put a spin on the classic campfire s’more by building solar ovens and enjoying the treat in the middle of a sunny day. Though there were a variety of designs for the ovens, they all got the job done and a group of happy 5th graders got to enjoy some solar s’mores as they learned about the benefits of energy captured from the sun. Students pictured above enjoying their solar oven cooked s'mores!
Mousetrap Car Races and Science: Barbara Parmeter’s 8th grade science class presented their mousetrap car design projects by demonstrating how far each mousetrap car could go. The goal was to reach 30 feet, but a 100 grade was awarded to every student whose mousetrap car reached 50 feet! When a mousetrap is set, the spring in the center is compressed, becoming a source full of potential energy. This energy is being stored, not used, but as soon as the trap is released, it is converted to kinetic energy (the energy of motion) that propels the snapper arm forward. Great job, 8th grade science students!
High School News
Congratulations, Faith Academy Sophomore Natalie Roach! Faith Academy sophomore Natalie Roach received multiple individual awards and was crowned 2017 International Junior Miss Texas Teen at the Texas State Pageant which was held February 24th-26th in Richardson. Though her accomplishment of winning one of the top five pageants in the nation is impressive, it is rivaled by the odds she had to overcome to get there. After winning the pageant, Natalie said, “The moment my name was called for the IJM Texas Teen Crown was a moment of joy, laughter, and tears. I was so grateful, so humbled, and in a state of shock! More than anything, I had asked God to give me grace, allow me to perform to the best of my ability, to lead me down the path He had planned for me, and to allow me to glorify him no matter the results. I believe that HE will use my title to make a difference, and it will be my honor to serve others, be a cheerful giver, and give thanks in the best and worst of times. I was beyond proud to stand for God, for Faith Academy, and am thrilled to represent Texas at the IJM International Pageant!”
Junior/Senior Prom will be held on Saturday April 1st at 7:30PM to 11:30PM. Tickets will be available beginning March 8th and are $40 per student. Watch for flyers around campus with more details! If you have any questions or need clarification on what is and is not acceptable, please contact Kim Hansard at email@example.com or 830.798.1333.
Faith Academy Track Set to Continue Tradition of Excellence: Members of Faith Academy’s Track and Field Team hope to continue their program’s championship tradition as they travel to St. Andrews for their first meet on March 4th. Coach Steve McCannon says that they will definitely miss their seniors from last year and the success that they brought to the team, but he has seen what a huge influence they have had on the younger team members and is proud of the legacy they have left behind.
“The guys team has several new faces and we will use the meets to find out where we are at and how to best prepare for the district meet,” said Coach McCannon. “We will try to qualify as much as we can and see if we can get into position to get to state and score some points. This is a young team and we will need to develop fast. I know they can do it.”
Members of the boys’ team include:
James Hoover Seth Cozby Eli Oliver Isaac Oliver
Issac Seymour Grant Sandman Caleb Kwan Caleb Brown
“On the girls’ side, we will look to get our relays the way we like them by April so we can be ready for track playoffs, which are only 5 ½ weeks away,” said Coach McCannon. “Sophie McCannon looks to lower her school records and become the first Faith Athlete to win 10 state Titles in a career. Kristina Lane, Addison Floyd and Paris Brinkley all return from the All-State Track team. Our Freshmen Juliette McCannon, Valerie Coffey, and Abi Poole all look to make significant contributions as well as the rest of the team. We will have a challenge to knock-off district rival and 2-time defending State Champion Boerne Geneva.”
Members of the girls’ team include:
Addison Floyd Sophie McCannon Kelsey Kwan Danyelle Morris
Kristina Lane Paris Brinkley Emily Eppler Kailee Hair
Valerie Coffey Isabelle Martin Joy Plunk Juliette McCannon
“Track is a tough sport and requires athletes to train hard and be ready to compete when it really counts,” said Coach McCannon. “I am proud of the work the team has put in so far this season and we look forward to the UIL and private school competition we will face as we prepare for the District, Region and State Meets. We look forward to continuing the tradition of contending for the state championship both as a team and individually. This season will be extremely challenging but we look forward to representing Faith Academy. We work really hard so we can put it all on the line. The willingness of our track athletes to get uncomfortable and dig deep has been the key reason for our success over the years.”
