Badass Color and Experiments with a New Material

Screaming yellow green anyone? I got sick of the standard primary hues most superheroes seem to wear and I have decided I like my color LOUD and my music soft. Looking at this photo made me realize I still need to put some brighter highlights in Joker's face, but this will have to do for now.

This is on a new material I started experimenting with during lockdown. EVA foam ( Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate ). It's used a lot in theatre and cosplay for things like fake armor. It's PH neutral and, unlike polyurethane foam, it has a firm texture with only a little give (like an exercise mat).  A quarter inch thick sheet of it cuts like butter with an ordinary utility knife and it's slightly flexible, meaning skinny little parts aren't likely to break as they might in wood.

Artist's Spotlight: Lucy Riggs

You may know Lucy Riggs as one of the helpful and knowledgeable faces at Art Supply on Almeda, but she has another identity as an artist. The drawing below is in Archway Gallery's Thirteenth Annual Juried Exhibition. You can find more of her work on Instagram
