Gotta few cars you can donate before the end of the year?
Five vehicles were donated to Clear the Air Foundation last week, bringing the year-to-date total to 482. With only 154 more vehicles donated to exceed the previous record of 635, and five weeks to go before 2018 yields to 2019, you’ll hear from Mark Zeigler, Tim Jackson or your District Director about donating a vehicle or two.
When your dealership donates just one vehicle, that record will be broken (and who doesn’t like to break records?), — AND that funds almost 12 full scholarships to auto tech students who could one day fill your empty bay(s)!
To date, $37,000 in scholarships have been awarded. By leveraging contributions — such as school foundations matching our contributions or using funds to help students save up to 50 percent on new tools from Matco Tools & Snap-On Tools — that total in scholarships jumps to a whopping $67,000!
Mark has been focused on awarding scholarships to students who are currently working for a new car dealership. Because your needs for auto techs are immediate, he also educates scholarship applicants on the benefits of working at a new car dealership.
When a student wants to learn more, Mark introduces him or her to local service managers for an interview. (Dealers are selected based on a student’s location and any manufacturer interest.)
If you have older vehicles on your lot — and want to open space for higher-profit vehicles, while saving yourself the hassle of sending it to auction (where you’ll only make a few bucks) — consider donating them to the Clear the Air Foundation.
To donate a vehicle, gather the information below, send it to Mark Zeigler and he’ll have someone pick it up:
VIN
Year
Make
Model
Location
Sign over and mail the title to:
Mark Zeigler, Director
Clear the Air Foundation
290 E. Speer Blvd.
Denver, CO 80203
Please donate a vehicle. You’ll change a life (maybe even your own).
Do it today.

Marijuana, Opioids and Your Workforce
A webinar designed for everyone in a dealership who supervises or manages employees
The Denver Business Journal reported last week that the opioid epidemic costs Colorado between $750 million and $1 billion each year. That’s EACH YEAR! And nearly 80 percent of that cost is in lost productivity.
What’s more, the U.S. Surgeon General has reported that three-fourths of the nation’s nearly 21 million Americans who are struggling with addiction are employed.
Chances are that you have employees with a substance abuse problem — and are missing work (national stats show they miss up to six weeks of work every year).
As an employer, you need to have parameters in place to train, supervise and provide the necessary tools to ensure a drug-free workplace. Presented by CADA Human Resources Endorsed Provider KPA, please join CADA for this special, important webinar.

Agencies announce dollar thresholds in Regulations Z and M for exempt consumer credit and lease transactions
The Federal Reserve Board and the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (Bureau) announced Monday, November 26 the dollar thresholds in Regulation Z (Truth in Lending) and Regulation M (Consumer Leasing) that will apply for determining exempt consumer credit and lease transactions in 2019.
These thresholds are set pursuant to the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act) amendments to the Truth in Lending Act and the Consumer Leasing Act that require adjusting these thresholds annually based on the annual percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W).
If there is no annual percentage increase in the CPI-W, the Federal Reserve Board and the Bureau will not adjust this exemption threshold from the prior year. However, in years following a year in which the exemption threshold was not adjusted, the threshold is calculated by applying the annual percentage change in CPI-W to the dollar amount that would have resulted, after rounding, if the decreases and any subsequent increases in the CPI-W had been taken into account. Transactions at or below the thresholds are subject to the protections of the regulations.
Based on the annual percentage increase in the CPI-W as of June 1, 2018, the protections of the Truth in Lending Act and the Consumer Leasing Act generally will apply to consumer credit transactions and consumer leases of $57,200 or less in 2019. However, private education loans and loans secured by real property (such as mortgages) are subject to the Truth in Lending Act, regardless of the amount of the loan.
Although the Dodd-Frank Act generally transferred rulemaking authority under the Truth in Lending Act and the Consumer Leasing Act to the Bureau, the Federal Reserve Board retains authority to issue rules for certain motor vehicle dealers. Therefore, the agencies are jointly issuing these notices.
