Agape Class resumes Trinity XV

We will resume Agape classes for adults via Zoom tonight at 8 p.m. The first series will be a three-week class on the book of Titus led by Dr. Paul Owen. Dr. Owen is Professor of New Testament & Religious Studies at Montreat College in Montreat, NC. He and his wife a members of All Saints Anglican Church in Mills River, NC.

Evensong & BYO Picnic

We will meet outdoors at church for Choral Evensong followed by a bring-your-own picnic dinner (and sweaters!). Evensong will begin at 5:30 p.m. and we will pray in family groups (since we will be outside, masks are not required, but please continue to practice social distancing). Bring your St. Dunstan's Psalter for Evensong, too (copies will be available at church).

Wednesday Evensong will take place each week in September. As October rolls around, we will continue it given interest and daylight!

Gift basket for the Markham twins

No, the twins have not arrived yet, but mom and dad are busily preparing for them, and we would like to help them get a bit ahead in their preparations! Instead of a basket of gifts post-delivery, the basket is now set in the Narthex and ready to be filled!

Gift suggestions for the twins and Eve: They are set on onesies, blankets, and disposable diapers for newborns but could use a size up from newborn. Gift certificates for their Baby List (see link) are always good because a few large items are still needed.  If you decide on a gift certificate, please drop the card/certificate in the basket. We are hoping for enough certificates to help purchase a couple of larger items still needed (Moses baskets and bouncer). Bedside snacks would be great, and wipes and creams free of fragrance and organic.

The twins are due October 20 but are expected earlier. As always, thank you for your love and generosity as we approach this joyous occasion!

Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday morning for our parish workday -- and Austin for planning it!
The parish grounds are looking beautiful.

Saints Bio: Bl. Lancelot Andrewes

Lancelot Andrewes (1555-1626), Bishop of Winchester, was on the committee of scholars that produced the King James Translation of the Bible, and probably contributed more to that work than any other single person. It is accordingly no surprise to find him not only a devout writer but also a learned and eloquent one, a master of English prose, and learned in Latin, Greek, Hebrew and eighteen other languages. His sermons were popular in his own day, but are perhaps too academic for most modern readers. He prepared for his own use a manuscript notebook of Private Prayers, which was published after his death. The material was apparently intended, not to be read aloud, but to serve as a guide and stimulus to devout meditation.
