2022 Too. Who Knew?

The pandemic is far from over but there's always a window for travel.

Even as we prepared to wave 2021 an enthusiastic goodbye, making long awaited travel plans for the New Year, the pandemic reared its head again. But if 2021 has taught us anything, it is about tiding over the pandemic and riding the waves.

As cases of Covid-19 subsided, we packed our bags and headed to the nearest destinations. When they increased, we rediscovered our neighbourhoods and travelled virtually. We learned the art of fluidity, of being flexible with our plans. We kept a lookout for that elusive window of opportunity, and took it.

At Travel Purist, we've chronicled the stories of fellow travellers in our pandemic series, The Pandemic Travel Diaries. These are people who found themselves in places far away from home when the pandemic struck as well as those who navigated the circumstances and set off on new adventures between the limitations.

From Amandeep Singh's pandemic museum-hopping in Poland, chasing neon signs, to Shivani Gorle's walks through her neighbourhood in Brooklyn, New York, looking for vital signs - storefront memos that offered messages of solidarity, humour and humanity. From Ex-BBC Scotland journalist Della Matheson's account of being the last to leave Zanzibar before flights shut operations to Swati Paranjape's road trip from Mumbai to Manali in the quest to WFA, here's a round-up of pandemic travel experiences shared on www.travelpurist.com in the last year.

In the meanwhile, keep the pandemic diaries coming. And remember that as one window closes, another opens. May 2022 be a whole new journey.

Stay safe. Stay well.
