What's green, full of flavor, and helps keep you "mean and lean"?  This smoothie!  Give it a try for a healthy Saint Patrick's Day Treat: 1 cup unsweetened almond (or dairy) milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (try plant-protein powder for something new!), 2 teaspoons Matcha green tea powder (contains caffeine), 1/2 frozen banana.  Combine all ingredients in a blender, blend for 30-60 seconds, and enjoy!  If you would like it colder, add a few ice cubes (~200 calories, 20 g protein, 165 mg sodium, 20 g carbohydrate, 6 g fiber per recipe.  Note: calories, protein, and carbohydrate content will be higher if dairy milk and whey protein powder are used).

What is Matcha?  Matcha tea is a special type of green tea which uses the whole leaf- dried and turned in to a powder- instead of just a liquid extraction of the tea leaves (standard tea).  Because the whole leaf is consumed with matcha tea, it may provide a higher dose of antioxidants and beneficial compounds called polyphenols, as well as a boost of caffeine.  Try adding variety using other ingredients like peach, grated ginger, coconut milk, or pineapple in place of the banana in recipe- and enjoy!

YOU WILL LEARN TO:

View falls as controllable
Set goals for increasing activity
Make changes to reduce fall risks at home
Exercise to increase strength and balance 


WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

-Anyone concerned about falls
-Anyone interested in improving balance, flexibility and strength
-Anyone who has fallen in the past
-Anyone who has restricted activities because of falling concerns
