Giving thanks for an incredible month!

This month has been a busy one for us here at the production office. We kicked off November by wrapping up our first crowdfunding campaign, raising nearly $9,500 online plus additional in-kind and corporate support totaling over $30,000. WOW!! I am so humbled and grateful for this support.

These contributions have allowed me to assemble an incredible team of cinematographers, sound mixers, camera assistants & hair/makeup artists in both Portland and Los Angeles to make the film look and sound its best... and truly worthy of a "Tim Ellis Project."

Take a look at some of the exciting developments we experienced in November and what we have to look forward to as we wrap up the year!

Producer/Director, THIS IS TIM: A Musical Life

Thomas Lauderdale of Pink Martini awaits the slate before his interview for THIS IS TIM.

November marked a serious push in capturing interviews with some Portland music luminaries and also some of Tim's closest & oldest friends. We interviewed eight people in Los Angeles & Portland that covered a huge span of his life. Many tears were shed, both on-screen and off, and hilarious stories shared. Here are some of the highlights:

  • His early baseball-playing days in Woodland Hills, California
  • How his band in the mid-seventies was heckled during a gig in South Central LA for "Soul Train!" so they played a twenty-minute rendition of "Play That Funky Music" ...in both sets.
  • His first meeting with his future bride and true love Susan on tour in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1980
  • Teaching guitar lessons to Everclear front man Art Alexakis
  • The legendary secret language behind Tim & Jim's epic music medleys

We have collected so many stories and expect many more to come. Our approach has been to collect and collate these stories, then distill and craft our storyline for the film. It is a laborious process but one that honors the breadth of Tim's experience, the depth of his community and allows for new and interesting tangents to explore in the final film.

If you are interested in sharing any of your stories about Tim, click here! We would love to include you during our next round of shooting in December.

Join me and the many amazing guests at the Aaron Meyer 2016 Holiday Concert Series coming up next week, December 8 - 10. Come say hello at my table at the back, where I will be sharing footage and chatting about the film.

We will also be accepting tax-deductible donations through our non-profit sponsor Oregon Music Hall of Fame, at the show & before the end of the tax year!

Reopening for December!

We are so thankful for our nearly $9,500 in contributions thus far. We stopped accepting donations on November 1st so that we could focus on production.

However, not everyone had the chance to contribute before then. If this was you, great news! We are re-opening the campaign for the holidays.

Don't wait – this campaign closes at the end of the year, so donate today!
