Daventry Remembrance
& Rehearsal for Flag Bearers 2022

We would like to invite you to join us in the Daventry Remembrance Parade 2022 and also the rehearsals for the Flag Bearers. This is for all groups with Standard Bearers to attend.

We have had a meeting with the Parade Master - Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant, 1st Bn Grenadier Guards Aidan O’Brien – who has kindly offered to lead the parade once again and is co-ordinating the parade and rehearsals this year along with Chris Ward – the Chairman of The Royal British Legion.

Please can you cascade this down to all your relevant groups within Daventry and ask them to REPLY TO AIDAN (Aidan.Obrien343@mod.gov.uk) urgently to confirm the name of your group and if you can attend or cannot attend for the following:

REMEMBRANCE REHEARSAL:

  • Date: Friday  4th November 2022
  • Time: 6.30pm
  • Meeting Point: Holy Cross Church, Daventry

REMEMBRANCE PARADE:
  • Date: Sunday 13th November
  • Time: 10.00 am for the parade to begin at 10.30 am (approx.)
  • Meeting point Outside Argos, High Street, Daventry
    • Please note: the High Street will be closed on the day so you will need to park in any of the local car parks and walk to the High Street. Please check onsite signage for time limits.
  • Church Service: There are no restricted numbers inside the church this year so all are welcome to join the service after at the Holl Cross Church.
  • Plan for the day:
    1. Everyone will parade from the meeting point on Daventry High Street (outside Argos) onto the War Memorial on Abbey Street.
    2. After the war memorial service, the parade will process to the Holy Cross Church on Church Walk. Wreaths will be laid by each group at the bottom of the steps of the memorial. Wreaths will be repositioned at the War Memorial after the service by Daventry Town Council.
    3. Groups will reform outside the church ready to parade into the church with their Standards after everyone else is seated.
    4. After the Church Service, the groups will parade back out of the church and reform to be dismissed by the Parade Master, this is for safety reasons as the road closures will no longer be in place.
    5. Parents of the Standard Bearers can then collect their children from outside the church.

Please REPLY TO AIDAN (Aidan.Obrien343@mod.gov.uk) as soon as possible if you are able to attend.
