You can do it, pilgrim! We're here to help

Many people want to walk one of Europe's historic pilgrimage routes, but the planning, study and, well, worry make it a daunting task.

At Pilgrim Paths we do the hard work for you so that, instead of worrying, you can simply enjoy the pleasure of walking some of Europe's most amazing pilgrimage itineraries.

With experience based on walking over 4,500 kilometers on pilgrim routes in Europe, we've put together five 2017 pilgrimage itineraries in beautiful Italy that are perfect for either the first time pilgrim or for experienced pilgrims who want a strong support infrastructure helping them along the way. The goal is relaxed enjoyment, healthy exercise, a deep experience of the culture and sights along the way, and lifelong friendships built among interesting fellow travelers. Here's how we do it:
  • Full van service is provided each and every day -- this means you can finish your day early or skip a day of walking if you'd like. That's a huge plus in case you're get sick, hurt, don't want to brave a rainy day, or simply want to take a break.
  • Full baggage service all the way means you carry a day pack rather than a burdensome backpack, and that you can bring along extra clothes and other items (maximum 40 lbs.) that would be too heavy to carry if you had to lug it all around yourself.
  • High-quality accommodations each night -- We take the guess work out of accommodations by booking 4-star hotels where available, choosing the overnights that will give you the best sleep and convenience to the charming piazzas and sunny cafes that make Italy such a joy.
  • Limit of 10 per group which means shared meals and conversation with interesting people from around the world, people who are certain to become longtime friends.
  • We walk with you each step of the way from preparation to the destination. You're fully prepared to flourish on your walk with our packing lists and training recommendations. We translate for you as needed, and best of all, we walk with you every step.

Our 2017 itineraries focus on the Via Francigena from Lucca to Siena (yellow pins), Siena to Rome (red pins) and the Via di Francesco from Florence to Assisi (blue pins) and Assisi to Rome (purple pins). These itineraries in Central Italy cover some of Italy's most beautiful and historic sites, in the regions of Tuscany, Lazio and Umbria. Click here for more information.
We're proud to work with Allianz Global Assistance to provide travel insurance to our participants. Check for a quote on travel insurance as you make your reservation deposit or click here for more information.
Between Lucca and Siena are some of Tuscany's most beloved villages and towns.
Tuscany brims with history and our overnights between Siena and Rome include gorgeous towns like Bolsena and Viterbo.
The top two pilgrimage destinations in Italy are Assisi and Rome. The pilgrim trail between these two destinations brings daily reminders of St. Francis and his simple message of humility and joy.
The quiet, northern portion of the Via di Francesco leads from Florence to Assisi through the Casentine National Forest, stopping at important spiritual centers bathed in memories of St. Francis of Assisi.
