We hope this note finds you all safe. Many of us are still dealing with the aftermath of Friday's storm. An experience such as this can leave one feeling vulnerable, shaken and exhausted, and for those who have property damage or injuries, there may be a long road ahead to restoration of health and home. This is where community comes together in support, to help and heal together. If you or someone you know in our ONHB community is struggling, please contact Cathy
to let us know how we might be able to help, whether it may be a ride to rehearsals, help with clean up, a get-together over coffee, or food supplies delivered.
Positive things can come out of this event, such as gratitude for what we have or an appreciation of a calm and quiet evening with no electronic gadgets to distract us. A story was shared with a band leader of a peaceful evening of practice by candlelight. Here is a suggestion for all-- a battery-operated music stand light which can double as a flashlight or reading lamp!
The rehearsals cancelled on Monday, Sept. 24 because of school closures will hopefully be made up by an extra rehearsal in mid-November. We try to consistently offer 12 rehearsals in a session, but we guarantee 11. The replacement rehearsal will probably be a Tuesday or Wednesday at Brookfield, or a Saturday morning at Nepean HS.
The OCDSB is open for community use of schools starting today, Tuesday, September 25, and all rehearsals are back on.
Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.
